acdii Report post Posted February 14, 2013 Well, a picture is worth a thousand words they say, unless it goes against what Ford believes is true. I am checking with the local Toyota dealer on a Camry XLE Hybrid and going to give it a road test. If I get anywhere near their EPA ratings, and the price is right, done deal. Will also check with Mazda, and let the better car win, cause it wont be a Ford. Even if they offered to meet my current payment on an EB Ti with the same options I will pass, from what I see of the MPG on those, really not worth it at all. The Service manager said, just be patient, when the summer blend fuel comes around and the temps warm, you will see higher MPG. Um, I doubt it will change much, Florida ring a bell? At least the 2010 has been good, and continues to be good, and it it weren't for the smaller back seat, I would consider a 2012 provided I can find one with the Nav. acdii Report post Posted February 14, 2013 Acdii , it may be time to lawyer up http://www.mpgfraud.com/ Ive already been contacted and will most likely pursue a case. This is ridiculous that 39-40 is considered acceptable on a 47mpg rated car but to also do it in a obviously deceiving manner is just wrong. These are the same lawyers that filed the suit in Cali and there is no fees if they dont win, otherwise they get 30%. Also most likely itll turn in to a class action in your state. Even if I lose the case I dont lose a dime but it sends a message to Ford to live up to the hype. I wrote them a note, we shall see.
lolder Report post Posted February 15, 2013 I would believe the service manager if it weren't for the CEL and fouled plugs. Good luck acdii.
midnight555 Report post Posted February 18, 2013 I also bought a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid in January. I am having the same problem. I am getting about 32.6 MPG. I have about 2,000 miles on the vehicle. I don't know what to do about it, but it is sad that the vehicle does not get even close to the 47 MPG advertised for both city and highway. acdii Report post Posted February 18, 2013 Wickstrom Ford in Barrington is EV certified. You can take it there if you want. However, I can tell you from experience that they will road test the car per Ford's standards and will get the expected results. I have found that the longer the trip, the more fuel efficient the car gets. It takes that long to reach a sustained engine temp. If I drive for 2 hours, it gets better MPG than if I drive 1 hour. midnight555 Report post Posted February 18, 2013 I have an appoinment at Wickstron Ford in Barrington tomorrow morning for this issue. They have already called me and warned me that they may not be able to do anything. The person said that the lower MPG is expected because the vehicle is not broken in yet at 2,000 miles. In addition, I ran a vehicle health report and it uncovered no issues.

Just sayin'! 1 acdii reacted to this
wazzul Report post Posted February 18, 2013 The cars we drove when I was in Charlotte for the Random Acts of Fusion event all had about 4-5k miles on them and that was back in Oct 2012. I guess they said they have truckloads of Fusions that they used for demonstrations and testing. Plus there are professiona drivers that Ford has on staff who drive the cars WAY before they're released to the public. Each of these drivers get the cars to test for a couple months then give feedback to Ford on good and bad. I'm sure there was an ample supply of "broken in" vehicles for them to use for testing... acdii Report post Posted February 18, 2013 If you notice a pattern here, those living in the south, where its warmer are having no issues with miles, but most of us up north are getting crud for miles, hybridbear and one other here are the only ones getting expected MPG. So what the hell are we doing wrong if the cars are OK?
expresspotato Report post Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) Maybe the Active Air Shutter is always open? I don't know how I could check mine while the car is moving. Once parked even in 20F (-5C) its clearly open... Edited February 19, 2013 by expresspotato

wazzul Report post Posted February 19, 2013 Ford Engineers say they close at about 50mph, up to that point they're always open. See the YouTube #BackAtYou #Lunchdate from a few weeks ago.

I've seen mpg's in the low to mid 40's since day one. Saw 66 mpg on an 18 mile trip yesterday. Of course I am further south and in fact yesterday the temp was low 60's. Was in St. Louis this past weekend and temps were from mid 20's to low 30's. Still saw 38 to 40 mpg.
acdii Report post Posted February 19, 2013 Hit or miss it seems. I unfortunately got a miss. I already miss the car though and waiting 6-8 weeks will be torture. I just hope they find a buyer quickly so I dont see the car when I drive by 3 days a week. It will also help if they sell it quickly then I can save up money for floor mats and tints, along with tires for our other car. The upside is that it WONT be a hybrid, one of them is really all I can handle now, and it will be nice to be able to giddy up once in a while like I did with the Flex. We will just keep driving the 2010 and enjoying it, been a very good car so far, and will most likely continue to be so for years to come. Figured out why the USB stopped working in it too. Got it working again, and happy that I didnt have to take it in for that.
expresspotato Report post Posted February 19, 2013 Yeah its weird in a Prius or Camry Hybrid I can get 5.2L / 100KM (45 MPG) without trying nearly as hard as I have to in the Fusion... Just finished an 80 KM drive with 50% highway 50% city got 5.7L / 100KM (41 MPG)... I did notice this though - when I started the car and the engine was cold I went outside and saw that the flaps closed them selves after doing their cycle of open close. So it seems like they are working as they should be. For me whenever the ICE is on it is just brutal on the mileage - more efficient in higher RPM or not, it really doesn't seem that way. Allegany Report post Posted February 19, 2013 Well got an amazing 65.6 mpg on a twelve mile trip today. Fortunately it was mostly down hill. Return trip was around 35. Long term average is at 38.8 and showing signs of slowly increasing now that the weather has moderated slightly. I never though I'd say 30F was moderating but after this long cold spell it feels almost warm. Freezing rain tomorrow so that should be interesting. Took my car to the local dealer Saturday as he wanted to show it to a potential customer. The customer looked it over and made the dealer a sale. He's giving me a free oil change for bringing it to him. So far I'm very pleased with the car. Got about 4600 miles on the od.

acdii Report post Posted February 19, 2013 46* yesterday, 13* today, man this weather is strange. Good news though, got 39 MPG in my 2010. :D, that old bugger is just SO easy to get good MPG in.
darrel.e.wise Report post Posted February 19, 2013 We have 1200 miles on ours. When we picked it up it had a lifetime milage of 6 mpg. I guess it will take a while to erase that. It says lifetime is now at 38.8 and it with it in "engage" mode on the left view it usually shows 40.6 and has been steadily going up. We still have plenty of cold weather here also. I know it isn't 47 mpg but hey, I am pretty happy with 40.6 for a car as big as this one is. My Pontiac Gran Prix GT V6 got only 25 mph and my current Saturn Vue is getting 22 to 25. 40 looks pretty good to me. 1 B25Nut reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted February 20, 2013 Would be interesting to find out. What are the odds of getting 4 bad plugs in one engine out of the hundreds of thousands made? At least this is what they are trying to tell me.
expresspotato Report post Posted February 20, 2013 Good question I don't know how hard they are to remove but I will check the manual and take a look at one of the plugs tonight if its not too difficult to remove.
acdii Report post Posted February 20, 2013 Not hard at all, two bolts to pull up the top cover off the engine, two for the air snorkel, and hose clamp on the intake and you can get the cover up high enough to pull a COP off and remove a plug.
