Wrong Shifter?

Got mine swapped! Took them 2 hours... The dealer said Ford doesn't recognize the mis-build despite what it says on the website. They're going to claim it under warranty.

My dealer said they CAN'T claim it under warranty because they have to send the old one back and it won't match what they replaced, so they just charge back the sales dept.

I called the dealer last night to make sure that they would have the part for my appt Monday. The Service Advisor was not aware of the issue, but I explained it based on the excellent info on here and even gave him the correct part number to look up. He called me back a few minutes later and said the part was ordered and would arrive Wednesday. So Monday I'll still bring the car in because they're going to try to fix the headliner rattle. And then I'll just have to drive by another day and have them take care of the shift knob.

 

Also, in our ridiculously cold spring weather (it was 0 degrees Wednesday morning) our left tail lamp lens cracked while my wife was driving me to work. When I put my work laptop and lunch in the trunk leaving the apt it wasn't cracked and when she dropped me off at the office 1.3 miles later it was. In the days since the cracks have spread all the way from one end of the lens to the other. The dealer also ordered the lens and I hope they won't refuse to replace it under warranty.

Wow, thats strange. Take a pic of it and post. I did notice mine dont line up, but an SE on the show room floor did. It is almost as though they are different sizes.

 

Been stinking cold here too, not 0 but darn close at 11. Thankfully it is supposed to get over freezing a bit so hopefully the ice will melt.

Today, my Dealer Rep (not my local Dealer) confirmed that his Dealership has cars with the wrong shifter as well.

He informed me that my shift knob issue is now being looked into.

 

Looking forward to hermans replacement picture and part #.

 

Edit update:

My Dealer Rep's Dealership has ordered the leather shift knob, they are now awaiting the part's arrival and it will have to be installed there.

It's quite a bit farther away than my local Dealers but he promised us a free restaurant lunch while we wait, that is good Customer Service - unlike my local Dealers attitude.

 

Which dealer was this? I need to get mine replaced. Hoping to avoid wasting my time as some dealers will surely play dumb! Thanks.

The features of my Hybrid Titanium updated in Etis this week and one of them is "With Leather Gear Shift Knob". I wonder if all these Hybrids with the wrong shift knob have any reference to it in Etis ..

Mine was listed on Etis as with leather shift knob, but it did not come with one.........go figure.

The ETIS listing for my car also listed a leather wrapped shift knob, but it didn't come with the car. My official build sheet also listed the leather wrapped and that is what Ford used to determine I didn't get the correct shifter. The build sheet is the "Bible" of what your car is supposed to have.

I just got my window sticker for my HyTi and it doesn't say anything about a leather-wrapped shift knob on it. Maybe they don't post that on the window sticker?? Or maybe they have stopped putting leather wrapped shift knobs on the cars??

No, so far all I have is the window sticker but it's for an Energi Titanium.

It shows the leather wrapped steering wheel followed by the leather wrapped shifter.

I finally got called in this afternoon to show the area rep what I had. My sales woman went through a bunch of crap for me and she was finally able to get it pulled together. I'll report back if/when the change is made.

I got the call for the installation tomorrow. I'll report the outcome.

 

 

 

They got mine switched out in under an hour this morning. Lookin' gooood.

The sticker for my Hybrid Ti doesn't show it either. I noticed the HyTi sticker in general doesn't list some of the options the Gas & Energi Ti list. That doesn't mean they're not on the car, just not on the sticker.

Took mine in to get the shifter swapped out, the parts dept had it in stock, when I got there the service dept refused to swap it out as they said Ford would not authorize it's replacement. Escalated to Ford's regional customer service manager, he got copies of the pictures I sent to the dealer and he also refused to authorize it's replacement, saying that leather wrapped meant the boot was leather not the shifter. To busy at work to escalate this currently but some what feeling let down by both my dealer and Ford. Will take my service business to another dealer I think.

They have no idea of what they are talking about, or they are trying to stonewall you.

Exactly.

I just so happened to be talking to my Dealer's Service Writer that took care of my shifter swap about my spare tire they are getting for me.

I mentioned another member here that wants his shift knob replaced with what he paid for and was told 'no problem, have him call me and we'll get it done'.

 

Do not give up, that CS Manager is out of touch.

That looks real nice! GrySql had his replaced by a local dealer and he hooked me up with the service writer at that dealership. Thank you GrySql, I owe you some beer whenever we meet!

Say, I'm not exactly that old but I don't understand all these modern slang terms.

In the modern lexicon doesn't getting 'hooked up' have other, more, mmm, personal connotations?

 

Ace, not to dash your hopes or anything but I merely mentioned your name to a guy about your shift knob, don't get so excited! :hysterical:
