wailer Report post Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) OK, so I've read all the bad press about the Fusion not living up to the 47/47 mpg claims. All I know is I have been driving as conservatively as I can possibly manage since taking ownership on Dec 7, 2012, and this is what I have found so far . . . Current mileage 2794EV: 886.7Regen: 113.7Avg MPG: 37.9Avg Brake Score: 94%Gallons used: 73.59 This cumulative total includes a trip from DC to Atlanta and back. On the way down I set cruise at 60 as often as possible and settled in for a slow trip to see what this baby would do on "max conserve" mode. I managed 41.6 MPG average on my way down. On the way back I drove between 70-74, which was what most of the traffic around me was doing. The results? 39.4mpg!! Since time is money, I know how I'll be driving on the wide open highways going forward! I have heard various estimates of "break-in" mileage needed to get the best mileage as all the components learn and talk to each other. I have noticed an uptick this past week in mileage during local trips. I managed 46.5 this afternoon. Over the past week I've noticed most trips have been in the 41+ range, so maybe all those nebulous "components" have started to have a conversation with each other! Hopefully I will see the my Average mpg (37.9) start to rise into the 40's as well. I don't really care if I don't average 47/47, but I would like to think those figures are not just wishful thinking of the Ford Marketing Department. I'm just sayin' . . . !~Wailer UPDATE 3/24/2013Current mileage 3979EV: 1377.6Regen: 206.7Avg MPG: 37.9Avg Brake Score: 93% Despite many, many, many trips report 40+ mpg since then, overall averages are not increasing. This leaves me scratching my head. :headscratch:~Wailer Edited March 25, 2013 by wailer 1 MXGOLF reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted February 4, 2013 Good luck, sounds like your car is melding nicely. Filled mine up tonight with 6689 on the clock and got a whopping 33 MPG. Thats about what my 2010 gets when I dont care about getting good MPG.
B25Nut Report post Posted February 4, 2013 Wailer: Great photo. "39.4mpg!! Since time is money, I know how I'll be driving on the wide open highways going forward!" With temperatures getting a little warmer here, I've been getting the same. Saturday the drive to a class included about two miles of steep downgrade. My average speed was about 73mph, and I got 44.6 mpg. The teacher of the class drove the same route in a Prius V and said he got 40 mpg, but he was never over 65mph. My commutes home are now consistantly between 39-42 mpg with 65-70 mph freeway speeds. My lifetime average is still 35.4 mpg, but I'm waiting to reset that when I change the oil at 5000 miles. Like G.S., I now think about MPG less than 30% of the time.
Jamone Report post Posted February 16, 2013 I am at 2800 miles with a lifetime average of 39.4 mpg and going up. But my last couple of tanks are averaging between 41-43. My driving is roughly split between city and 65-70 mph highway. I definitely have been seeing it improve.
hybrid47 Report post Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) My car is still not fully broke in yet, but these are the latest stats that I just pulled from the information display: Current mileage: 970 EV: 169.4 Regen: 27.6 Avg MPG: 40.2 Avg Brake Score: 94% Gallons used: 24 I must admit that I do not do anything special as far as driving it like a "Hybrid", and on numerous occasions I have driven it like I stole it, so I am sure that I could get the numbers up higher if I tried.
