okaydave Report post Posted March 9, 2013 Got a VIN and a build date for my Titanium Hybrid a few days ago. It's scheduled for the week of March 25th with delivery to my dealer, in Ohio, around "early to mid-April."Does anyone have any insight into the margin of error to be expected with these estimates? What dealer are you dealing with in Columbus? dlramon Report post Posted March 9, 2013 (edited) I thought I would try the Ford website Chat window to check my order status. I had been called on Monday by my area Customer Service Manager and told that my car was scheduled for build next week and later told by my dealership Sales manager that it was really only being scheduled for build next week. I asked for and received the latest DORA which provides literally all car order features, including the Order # and the Dealership code. I was not surprised that the Chat end result was typical - no information found. See below the conversation recorded with my Chat buddy. This was time which I have lost and will never get back.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Davidinvited_pagehttp://bp3.ford.com/2013-Ford-Fusion?branding=1Please wait. An operator will be with you shortly.Katie: Hello David, this is Katie. Thank you for your interest in Ford today. How may I assist you?David: I would like to get status on my new Titanium Hybrid order.Katie: I am happy to check your order status for you today. What is your order number or VIN please?David: Order # 2222Katie: Thank you. And which dealership did you order from please?David: F48513 Bob Maxey Ford Howell, MIKatie: Great. Thank you.Katie: While I check the status, will this be your first Ford vehicle?David: No. I've owned an Econoline F150 High-Top Van, leased a Mustang and owned a Crown Victoria station wagon.Katie: To clarify, I show Krug Hilltop Ford is in Howell, MI and Bob Maxey is in Detroit, MI. Which location did you order from?David: Bob Maxey Ford is new owner of Krug Hilltop Ford. Dealer Code is F48513.Katie: Okay David. Thank you. I ask because based on the order number and dealer code you have provided, I am not able to locate an order. I suggest verifying your order number with Bob Maxey Ford. The dealership can also provide an order status update when you contact them. I apologize for any inconvenience.David: So you have entered Order # 2222 and Dealer Code F48513 and can't find anything?Katie: That is correct. Depending on how long ago you placed your order, this may also be because a VIN has been assigned at this point and I would now need that VIN to find the order.David: I heard from the Great Lakes Customer Service manager last Monday that my vehicle was going to be scheduled for build next week - perhaps that has already happened?Katie: When your build is scheduled, usually before it starts production, a VIN is assigned. This is more than likely why I cannot find the order as I mentioned. I suggest contacting your ordering dealership to find out you VIN and current order status.David: The Customer Service manager's name was Kathy - she called me. That's not you is it?Katie: I am located at one of Ford's main Customer Service Centers in Central Florida. I do not make outbound calls to customers regarding orders.David: There is one other possibility. There has been a mix up of dealer code in the past. Originally I was given 48F513 - perhaps you could try this number?Katie: F48513 and 48F513 are both dealer codes for the same dealership. Ford some reason in some systems the "F" gets placed after the second number rather than in front. The code my system uses to search is the one with the letter at the beginning.David: Thank-you. I will call my dealership.Katie: It is my pleasure. I appreciate the time you spent with me today. You can reach the Marketing Program Headquarters by calling (800) 334-4375 Monday through Friday, from 9am to 6pm EST. Your feedback is important to us. Will you let us know how we are doing by clicking on the small red "X" in the top right corner and filling out the exit survey when prompted?------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I later called the dealership and told them the results on the chat. The dealership's response was that Ford's contractor operated information sites are often staffed with people who are not trained well; also possible that the information data-base had problems (either wrong or missing information). While on the phone with my salesman, he was quickly able to retrieve my status and confirmed that I was going to be build scheduled next week - not new information, just further proof that access to Ford's manufacturing information has a lot of dependancies. Now the interesting stuff. While still on the phone with the salesman, he performed a nationwide search for a TiHy matching my car's description and actually found one in Michigan - had been on the storage parking lot for the last 2 days. Car status was not clear - only that the original destination was in question. My salesman got the sales manager's approval and they are now in the process of trying to claim this car for me. I'll let everyone know how this turns out. :headspin: Edited March 9, 2013 by dlramon
tiredofwaitinginCalifornia Report post Posted March 10, 2013 But the dealer has at least verified that your order was accepted in Ford's system and is sitting in "unscheduled-clean" status, right? Thanks for the info jeff_h. I checked and yes, it is sitting in "unscheduled-clean". Back to waiting . . .
B25Nut Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Everyone must remember, it is worth the wait. Two months after I had ordered my FFH, my dealer had zero information about it. The wait translates to: they can't make them fast enough, which is a good sign for all of us.
Treasure trove Report post Posted March 10, 2013 Hmmm...I ordered Titanium mid-December. About ten days ago I heard from my dealer that my order was listed as prioirity one and a VIN number was assigned. No info on delivery was available and there was no guessing when. Last Friday, my salesman called again and asked if I really wanted the moonroof. I said I could live without it. He said vehicles with moonroofs were not being made because of liner issues. Anyone else hearing this about the moonroofs?
steveo358 Report post Posted March 11, 2013 Glad I didn't want a moonroof , especially if that is the case.
murphy Report post Posted March 11, 2013 If you got the VIN the date of the build week should also be available. The next step would be the date of the build day within the build week. I may be wrong but I doubt they would have created the VIN if the vehicle was not buildable. It sounds to me like he has a vehicle either on the lot or coming in soon that doesn't have a moonroof and wants you to buy it. I got the VIN for my vehicle last Friday and the build week is April 1. It has a moonroof.

On the BOF, with dealer stock VIN 3FA6P0RU9DR257682 that was posted here too, that vehicle has a moonroof. Of course since it is a Job 1 car, it might leak like hell! :( Mine has a moonroof, so I hope it is fine. I drove a regular Ti at the dealer last week with a moonroof, and it seemed fine. I can't see how the regular vs. hybrid would affect the roof.

dlramon Report post Posted March 13, 2013 I was looking around the Weathertech web site and noticed that they have some license plate frames machined out of aluminum stock and than painted - very expensive. Do any of you have experience with this product? Although they are expensive, if the car's allocated area for the plate provides enough clearance, I might decide to buy them. Can anybody tell me what the total flat surface distance is below the top license plate hole for a 2013 Ford Fusion? Given the license plate frame's total width below the hole doesn't exceed the car's available flat distance, frame should fit OK.

dlramon Report post Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) I get mine for free, problem is they have the dealers name on them. Hey but they are FREE! I get a free oil change for having them :)That reminds me. I need to call my dealership and tell them that I do not intend to provide free advertising for them - no decals or painted dealership information allowed - stock Ford exterior finish only. Hopefully, they will buy back my All Weather mats - by the time I found out they were really too small, it was only 5 days before my build schedule date so I didn't want to take the chance to delete them and update the DORA. I like the appearance of the Weathertech product and will be buying those (front and back rows). From GrySql's response above, I believe I will hold off from buying the Weathertech License plate frame - machined aluminum frame will probably be too large to fit in plate area below trunk. GrySql Report post Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) machined aluminum frame will probably be too large to fit in plate area below trunk.Right at the top of the location for the rear license plate there is a fixture that contains the backup camera, lights for illuminating the plate and the trunk release switch. These limit the area for a thick topped plate frame. Your AL frame may fit but I'd make sure they are returnable before purchasing something that expensive. So maybe this is a production delay to fix that issue.
