The Scoop on JOB2 Start Date for 2013 - Fusion Hybrid Titanium and Energi

Recommended Posts

Dealer order doesn't necessarily mean dealer stock. It can mean a car ordered for a customer, and shows up as inventory until the customer actually purchases it. If the customer decides they no longer want it, or something came up from the time they ordered it to the delivery date, then it rolls into the dealer stock.

I was making that assumption since nobody on any of the blogs have claimed any of the cars that have been built, as well as the early wave of Energi's to which many of the pre-orders have not been built. It was more an educated guess, but I'm sticking to it.

Whatever the truth ... I think the overall trend is positive. Each Friday I plan on checking on my order.

My first choice remains the Fusion but the Grand Touting Mazda6 makes a tempting second.

Maybe we can get Ford to sell us a reduced rate "Previously Wanted to be Owned" vehicle :waiting:

"Previously Wanted to be Owned" - as in the thousands of unfullfilled TiHys deliveries which we may all elect to walk away from if we don't get a special frustration rebate. Why not? Its probably got about as much of a chance to happen as a quick final TiHy delivery!

Interestingly enough I talked to the same rep George did today and here was my convo with her:

Please wait. An operator will be with you shortly.
Carmella says:
Hello Todd, this is Carmella. Thank you for your interest in Ford today. How may I assist you?
Todd says:
I have actually ordered a 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium Hybrid back in November. I was told 6-8 weeks before delivery once Ford started building it. It hasn't been started. Do you know why there seems to be a delay in production for 2013 Fusion Titanium Hybrids?
Carmella says:
That is an excellent question, and congratulations on your order of the Fusion Hybrid Titanium. We do apologize for any inconvenience. The Fusion Titanium Hybrid has gone into production very recently, however, they have not arrived on the dealership lots as of yet.
Todd says:
So they are in production now??
Carmella says:
We have started production at this time. Those with the first placed orders will be started first, so depending on when your order was placed, it should be starting soon.
Todd says:
Ok that's good news. It's hard being patient. My order was at the End of November, so hopefully it will be soon! :-)
Todd says:
Do you know if special orders will be produced before dealer lot inventory?
Carmella says:
Regrettably, I am unaware which orders will be filled first in regards to dealership lots or special orders. I do apologize for any inconvenience. I understand waiting for the new Fusion is hard, and we are happy you are excited. We recommend keeping in contact
with your local dealership for updates.
Todd says:
Yeah sad thing there is that it seems like I know more than they do.
Todd says:
Thanks!

Hopefully they are in production...we should find out soon enough!

We are neighbors ... McIntosh here. Go Gators!! Would that we had more water and gators between us :-)

Did you order from G'ville or Ocala?

Ah, called them too. They kept botching my potential order when I was shopping around ... were telling me I could only order the exterior color in one of three colors -red, black or blue. This was back in early, mid November when some dealers were saying order banks weren't open at all for the HyTi. Confusion was rampant.

I told them they were wrong and to call me back once they realized they were. Heard back from them after G'ville gave me the price I wanted.

Glad to hear they got their act together and got a sale.

I think the Fusion hybrid will do well here. Will slow my daily commute into G'ville a bit to maximize mpg.

The G'ville dealership, as helpful as they have been, haven't been all that well informed about HyTi production timing.

Any decent info out of Sante Fe?

Not so much. The guy I have been talking to is as helpful as he can be. They spoke to a regional manager about 3 weeks ago and she told them that the delay in production was a part issue. That might be the battery issue folks have talked about in posts here and elsewhere online. It doesn't seem like they know more than we do. It was that way on the cars even. The G'ville dealership lost me when they outright lied about the battery life on the hybrids. I asked how long the batteries lasted and the guy said I know of hybrid batteries lasting as long as 10-12 years. Hybrids haven't even been out that long so not sure what battery he knew about that lasted that long...

You guys are right about confusion being rampant. I was really surprised that I was walking in to dealerships asking about the HyTi and most sales people had no idea that the Hybrids were going come in the Titanium option. It seems like management at dealerships would be more proactive at educating their sales staff about their products. I knew more about the car than they did... sad.

I found that to be the case everywhere I went, whether it be Toyota (looking at the Avalon) or Ford. Any question I asked, they had no clue. it really is sad. If you make your living selling something, you would think becoming informed about the product you are selling would be a no brainer.

I won't be happy until I see one of you post that your VIN has been received. That's when things get real.

I am not very hopeful for retail orders this week. I have yet to see more than one energi retail order with a VIN (pluggedin). Are there others?

I know they are building the Energi's, but it seems like they are filling stock first.

We'll find out soon enough...

They may do their ordering on Tuesdays like

My dealership, but Ford schedules the factory on Thursday evening.

My dealer just called me and it looks like they're going to start scheduling them on February 28th. This is the first date my dealer actually received from Ford - I've asked them many times before and all they knew was that it's on hold until further notice.

Not quite the news we all wanted to hear, but it's better than an indefinite hold :victory:

That might be within reason if your dealer received notice that Ford issued OK TO BUY. Do you know if he got that?
