The Scoop on JOB2 Start Date for 2013 - Fusion Hybrid Titanium and Energi

Recommended Posts

Well my private buyer for my current car may fall through - then would be back to square one on that end. Not the end of the world, certainly, but a hassle nonetheless.

Other than that just frustrated with Ford's poor customer support and nervous about what that bodes for the future.

There still is no "official" scheduling or build start dates. Nor can one rest assured when they finally start bulds they won't send them from HSAP to FRAP for more quality control measures.

Had I known when I ordered in Nov I was looking at May/June delivery it would not have been my first choice.

Well I am now on the wait list, but for a non hybrid Ti. We finally worked out a deal and I am happy now.

The whole goal on this was I wanted it to be my last new car for a long time, but with all the problems I had with it and the stress of dealing with Ford over this, I finally came to the decision, that I really dont want a Toyota, and I dont want to go backwards, or get something used. After road testing a later built Hybrid and finding that it acted nearly the same as the one I have now, I really dont want another Hybrid, but something with more giddyup, but still have the room and comfort and toys that this one has.

We placed and order for a Deep Impact Blue Titanium, with adaptive cruise, moonroof, Nav, and drivers assist. Everything I want in the car, the only thing not on the order is park assist, and that is something I would never order anyway, so perfectly happy now. Dropping off my car tomorrow, they can sell it while I still make payments on it, which will be one or two more, depending on when the new one arrives or they find a buyer for this one. In either case it will cost me no more than $5 a month more. Exactly what I wanted to do from day one. Super Kudos to my dealership, and to Sean, He has done a superb job for me since 2003.

I ordered mine on 2/14 and was told that the 2/15 date was pushed out with no update. They had expected the first production to start 3/11, but thats probably not happening either.

Gas fusion Ti, GT Mazda6 or wait however much longer for the HyTi ...

I'm torn.

We checked out a Mazda 6 and the back seat is smaller than the Fusion. We didnt go any further than that, so cant help much. I would give it at least 2 weeks before anything else though. If they did start production, it will take at least that long before they get their records up to date.

Yea - now that my latest fit of pique has abated I'm willing to wait longer as I really think the Fusion HyTi is the best for my and my family's needs.

I think the Mazda6 would be more fun to drive ...

I think if I do end up bailing on the HyTi it will be for that car ... had a very nice test ride today in one (then rode in a gas Fusion Ti to compare). I'm just tired of delaying my gratification and pissed Ford won't tell anyone what is going on.

I just want to stamp my feet and get my cookie now!

Here is some news that makes total sense. I stopped at a different dealer and the salesman is a total car guy! He was up front on the hybrid when I asked to take it for a drive saying that it wont get the 47 MPG, blah blah blah, but he was honest and right on the money. We went on a test drive, and found the one they have which was built in December is a bit easier to get 40 MPG in, but anyway, to make it seem like I was interested and not just there to drive the car, I inquired about the Titanium trim as what I was interested in.

He made a few good points that make total sense. The factory making the battery packs is at max capacity since they are used in the Cmax line, the Fusion line and the MKZ line, which just recently started the MKZ Hybrid production. There is a good chance Ford is holding back starting production on the HyTi due to lack of battery packs. This would also explain the startup of the Energi Ti now since it uses a different pack than the others and have a good supply of them on hand.

Supply and demand, demand of the Hybrid must have been higher than expected and cant keep up with production. At this point, just do what my service manager told me with my car....just be patient, Ford will fix it.

BTW the one I tested did not have Nav so it had the latest MFT which has the hybrid display, Very Nice, wishing I had it in mine.

acdii - interesting perspective you got from the alternate dealer and one that might be on point. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder if cyberdman's vacation couples with the 3/4 date in any way ...

Can't say I'm not frustrated about Ford's continued miss on production roll-out for the TiHy; however, I'm still willing and able to wait it out until the roll-out actually happens. The longer into MY13 2nd/3rd quarter that it occurs does beg for a lateness factor needing consideration - calender year 2013 will be approching closure along with the 1st year depreciation on a car which hasn't even been delivered yet. Car depreciation does bother me and so, the longer the delivery date gets extended, the more concerned I will become about the true value of my purchase.

Whats interesting is when I was at my dealer, he had called another dealer who had a car that fit my order, but a different color, and asked if they would like to do a swap for a Hybrid. This was a dealer in Chicago, and they said they didnt want any hybrids.

Strange, you would think there would be more demand for them in Chicago.

Maybe we can get Ford to sell us a reduced rate "Previously Wanted to be Owned" vehicle :waiting:

So if I sign up for the American Airlines Award program and request another brochure I might get a $750 rebate that really isn't worth anything? What the heck, I guess I'm willing to give it a try - can't drive my new car right now anyway.

By the way, we both ordered our TiHy's on the same day. Mine is:

White Platinum Tri-Coat

Standard Titanium 18" Painted Wheels

Moonroof with Universal Garage Door Opener

Driver Assist Package

Voice-Activated Navigation

Active Park Assist with Forward Sensing System

Adaptive Cruise Contro

Lane Keeping/Cross Traffic Alert

All Weather Mats

Ordered: 11/19/12

VIN Assigned: Not yet

Build Date: Who knows

Delivery Date: Not soon enough

It's not the American Airlines Rewards program but the Ford Advantage Rewards program.

"George Blancopoop's" online chat with a Ford representative today...

Carmella says:
Hello George, this is Carmella. Thank you for your interest in Ford today. How may I assist you?
George Blancopoop says:
So are you guys still getting info that the Fusion Hybrid Titanium will be available in "the first quarter of 2013" and have no specific date?
Carmella says:
That is an excellent question. The Fusion Titanium Hybrid has gone into production, however, they have not arrived on the dealership lots as of yet. We do recommend speaking with your local dealerships to see when they expect to receive their first Titanium Hybrid, as this will vary from dealership to dealership depending on when they placed their order.
Carmella says:
Do you have any questions about the options you selected today?
George Blancopoop says:
wait a second
George Blancopoop says:
so they have actually gone in production now?
Carmella says:
That is correct.
George Blancopoop says:
when did this happen?
Carmella says:
We started showing models at the plant a little over a week ago.
George Blancopoop says:
but there is no timetable from when I place the order to delivery?
George Blancopoop says:
or an estimate?
Carmella says:
Generally orders take about eight to ten weeks from placing your order to delivery. Your local dealer will be able to provide a better estimate. If you have already placed your order, it should be going to the production line soon. It will be based on the first placed orders and so on.

Carmella probably didn't know the difference between an energy Titanium and a HiTi, I will only hope she is right!!

The next update the dealers have access to is on Thursday 21st and that was the latest "new" schedule date anyway.

That's actually true according to the Window Sticker's we've seen pop up over the past week. I know of at least 3 that have been built and are showing up on the Dealer websites, these all seem to be dealer orders though. I don't think our Custom orders have been started as of yet, but one can hope!
