The Scoop on JOB2 Start Date for 2013 - Fusion Hybrid Titanium and Energi

Recommended Posts

I have VINs for 2 Energi Ti that were built in the last week (based on ETIS)...

Yup, it sounds like the the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing :) We know what both hands are doing over here!

I requested a Ford Fusion brochure from Ford Customer Service about 3 weeks ago and have yet to receive anything other than a medium gauge paper, 3 or 4 page Fusion advertisement in the mail - no $750 rebate inside. Can someone who has received the brochure which included the $750 rebate describe his/her brochure for me? It would be nice to take advantage of a $750 rebate like others receiving the brochure.

I received what sounds like the same 4-5 page mini fold out pamphlet a few weeks ago instead of the brochure I requested. Check on the inside of the right flap. Mine says "$750 Private Cash* Just For You." at the top. Here's a link to download the brochure: http://www.ford.com/services/assets/Brochure?make=Ford&model=Fusion&year=2013

So if I sign up for the American Airlines Award program and request another brochure I might get a $750 rebate that really isn't worth anything? What the heck, I guess I'm willing to give it a try - can't drive my new car right now anyway.

By the way, we both ordered our TiHy's on the same day. Mine is:

White Platinum Tri-Coat

Standard Titanium 18" Painted Wheels

Moonroof with Universal Garage Door Opener

Driver Assist Package

Voice-Activated Navigation

Active Park Assist with Forward Sensing System

Adaptive Cruise Contro

Lane Keeping/Cross Traffic Alert

All Weather Mats

Ordered: 11/19/12

VIN Assigned: Not yet

Build Date: Who knows

Delivery Date: Not soon enough

Thanks for the link. I will re-check my brochure and follow the web link and let you know what turns up.

Just have your dealer check Vincent ... if you are eligible you'll be there before you get the paper brochure.

What is Vincent (rebate listing application?)? I did recheck my pamphlet brochure and confirmed no rebate was either included or printed on any page.

This is interesting, so I was looking up that Window sticker for the 1 Hy Ti that has been built VIN#3FA6P0RU9DR257685. Then I started looking for a site that shows how to decode a VIN #.

The site is I found was https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/default.asp not only does it breakdown how to read a VIN, but it lays out the exact builds for each VIN (that comes back as valid).

Anyways, I was bored so I started replacing the last couple numbers of the above VIN to see if any other Hy Ti's show up then I figured I'd look for window stickers on those as well. To my surprise I found quite a few. Here's a list of the last three digits that all show up as Hybrid Titanium's according to the above site. However, there were no window stickers as of yet. Could be nothing, but it's worth checking every once in awhile to see if the window stickers start popping up over the next couple weeks!

665, 651, 648, 634, 679, 701, 715, 732, 746, 777, 780, 794, 813, 827

Good find, wazzul. Hopefully means they are gearing up to approve retail builds.

dlramon, as I understand it ... it is the computer system where Ford tracks/logs customer retail incentives and approved offers. Other folks have found that the system has them in there for the $750 even if they haven't received he paper or email brochure. I imagine it might have some additional utility but this is the only use I have heard it mentioned.

I have no idea what metric Ford uses to dole out these extra incentives .... but one loses nothing asking their dealer to check the system under their name.

I have had several paper brochures with that offer ... with varying dates of "expiration". Fastronaut rec'vd word that his dealer will honor it whenever the car finally arrives. Good luck

The Hybrid Titanium has been rescheduled to:

Scheduling moved to Feb 21st and build 3/11.

So we all will wait longer, at least it will be spring when we get our cars, nice weather and better gas mileage.

If one can believe this latest delay. Which takes a fair amount of suspension of disbelief ... their track record for following through with this model/trim is abysmal.

Like Lucy ... they just keep jerking the ball away.

Just as one feels they are getting closer ... they yet again move the goal post and kick the can down the road a bit further to mix my metaphors.

You know that saying, you dont know a good thing until it's gone? Looks like thats what Ford will experience here with the delays.

Here is some news that makes total sense. I stopped at a different dealer and the salesman is a total car guy! He was up front on the hybrid when I asked to take it for a drive saying that it wont get the 47 MPG, blah blah blah, but he was honest and right on the money. We went on a test drive, and found the one they have which was built in December is a bit easier to get 40 MPG in, but anyway, to make it seem like I was interested and not just there to drive the car, I inquired about the Titanium trim as what I was interested in.

He made a few good points that make total sense. The factory making the battery packs is at max capacity since they are used in the Cmax line, the Fusion line and the MKZ line, which just recently started the MKZ Hybrid production. There is a good chance Ford is holding back starting production on the HyTi due to lack of battery packs. This would also explain the startup of the Energi Ti now since it uses a different pack than the others and have a good supply of them on hand.

Supply and demand, demand of the Hybrid must have been higher than expected and cant keep up with production. At this point, just do what my service manager told me with my car....just be patient, Ford will fix it.

BTW the one I tested did not have Nav so it had the latest MFT which has the hybrid display, Very Nice, wishing I had it in mine.

I canceled my original order for an SE Hybrid after waiting for it for six months, June to December, with no VIN or build date. I re-entered the order in Dec for a Titanium Hybrid. I've now been waiting for another two months, still without being given a build date.

This is beyond absurd, so now I'm giving Ford a deadline of April 15th. I must have a new vehicle by May 1st when my present car goes to my son. If there's no delivery by 4/15, I'm going to have to go buy an Accord, Avalon, or Camry Hybrid.

If that is necessary, though, at least I would have some peace of mind in knowing that I'd be dealing with a manufacturer that hasn't continually lied to me for almost 6 months now the way Ford has. Ever since last August, it's been "One more month, two at the most." Overall, the dishonesty and/or incompetence (probably both) displayed by Ford seems to auger ill for the company and for the Fusion line that showed so much promise when it was the consensus "winner" of the Detroit Auto Show a year ago. Sad, sad, sad. The revenue lost by their inability to deliver a promised, highly-hyped product must be so staggering that some heads will have to roll in Detroit. I'm hoping that someone on this forum is in a position to report it if that happens.

It does seem like the hybrids are very much in demand, much more than the non-hybrids. There must be something slowing down the production. The battery may very well be the reason. When a situation like this arises, i worry about quality issues. With a new battery design, you hope there are no short cuts to meet demand.

Seeing so many discrepancies in MPGs between owners, you have to wonder why that is. I hope it's not a quality issue due to parts being hurried

See the nifty thing about telling the public absolutely nothing is you can't later be held to anything ...

From a Ford rep:

An official date was never released as to when production would start, so no delays have happened yet to my knowledge.
See ... like magic. No delays ... they are right on time. You and all those silly dealers are just mistaken.

Strangely enough there is STILL no "official" date ... as that just might lead to a 'delay' - which they clearly haven't had and never will. Their production of Fusions is going just the way they want it to accordingly to plan.

All this is, of course, subject to change,

Yea - that boilerplate stew of vagaries and platitudes is all I have received as well.

My search for loaded GT Mazda6 kicks up a notch. Testing one out today.

Appears Ford has calculated loss of HyTi sales will be mitigated by S/SE, Energi and MKZ sales. Personally, I don't want to forgo options I want (push button start and Sony) and get an SE, nor spend 10k more for an Energi.

Wish I hadn't wasted 3 months believing Ford would come through. The TBD writing has been on the wall.

Why are you in such a hurry? Do you have to have a car by a certain date? I know it's frustrating to wait, but if you really have your heart set on something, are you going to be satisfied buying your 2nd choice.
