Love it, Hate it

Recommended Posts

What's something you love about your FFH, and something you hate/dislike about it?

For me, I love how comfortable it is to drive my 2013 FFH. My husband usually drives, so it's a treat when I actually get to drive.

I hate that if I want to have the heated seat working, I have to tap on the control three times - once to turn it on, once to turn it down from high to medium, and one last time to turn it from medium to low, the setting I usually use.

I love a lot of things! It looks great, it's super comfortable (already did a 1500 mile road trip in it with no sore muscles!), and I bet I get more compliments on the car a week than a Prius owner gets in a lifetime.

Cons: Doesn't have a V8. :hysterical:

Sorry - a little off topic here. Do you see more and more Ford Hybrids in Calif. these days? How are they being received?

I love everything except the crappy MPG, and MyFord Touch. Hoping this check engine light is the ultimate reason for the poor FE on the car. The fact it got a CEL in the first 4500 miles and the poor MPG has me disliking the car in total at this moment, so here's hoping Ford can fix it and have me loving it again. All I ask for is to be able to get 40 MPG without having to work so hard at it. Just want the car to be as easy to get good MPG as my 2010 is. This morning, 12* temps, got 37+ in the old car, without trying. Most of my driving is highway, so its still 1 MPG above EPA for highway even though it was pretty dang cold outside.

I've seen exactly two on the road - but it was a quick glance at each. One was headed towards us on surface streets (a white one) and a black one on the freeway (but we drove past it just as I saw it amongst other cards). Not sure if they were hybrids, but they were 2013 Fusions. The hybrids are selling quickly here (So Cal), though. The first two to arrive at two different local dealerships sold within a couple of days in November. Ours was also a dealer ordered, and we picked it up two days after arriving at the dealership (would have done it same day but hubby was sick).

The dealer where I bought mine has sold 8 hybrids in the last 1 1/2 weeks. When I ordered mine they didn't want a downpayment to order. They said if I didn't take it they would not have any trouble selling it - they were right.

So far I have seen only one other Fusion and it was a Hybrid.

I have only one thing I'm not pleased with and that is the print magnet MFT screen. Got to order a screen protector. I've got a good one on my transformer tablet so I'll seek one of those.

Okay, here goes my lists...

LOVE

1. that I love to drive again (had been increasingly growing adverse to traffic, congestion, driving habits of others)

2. the much calmer driving persona that I have developed since beginning to drive the FFH

3. counting the money that I'm not spending on gasoline each month (currently saving $167/mth)

4. not having to fill-up with gasoline 2X a week (now its 2X a month)

5. voice controls over most activities that I use (phone, climate control, radio)

6. feeling of safety when I drive (new driving habits, multiple air bags, driving aids, safety ratings)

7. comfortable leather seats (it fits and feels right for me)

8. the quiet drive

9. the FFH forum where I have gained a lot of knowledge

10. easy phone pairing for hands-free use

11. that it reads my instant messages to me

12. the little checkered victory flag waving once I reach my destination (still enjoying it!)

13. navigation system

14. colorful displays and multiple options for them

15. rear view camera and sensors

16. the switchblade remote control key (no poking in my pocket)

17. wipers and headlamps automatically turning on when I need them

18. handy sunglasses holder

19. no gas cap to forget

20. automatic high beam headlamps (surprised me the 1st time!)

21. blind spot monitor (BLIS is a great addition)

22. the back seat legroom (my passengers say it's great)

23. the front styling of this car (love the Aston grill)

24. that Ford seems like they are genuinely trying to make a good thing even better (PCM recalibration upgrade)

25. realizing that I add Fuelly updates that are consistently higher than not just some Priuses, but Motorcycles too!!! (who'd thunk?)

HATE

1. recalls/TSBs with the 1st year model (but knew to expect it)

2. the drain of MPG when the A/C is used in hot weather

3. climate control randomly turning on (heated seats, heater, A/C, etc turned on by a "ghost")

4. the single efficiency leaf falling away if I put the ignition key in without turning it on right away

5. lack of trust in a fully charged 12V battery (replaced once so far)

6. voice recognition errors (I said "call Mom", not "tune to CNN")

7. the fingerprints on the touchscreen (way too easy to accumulate)

8. no convenient place to put small trash

9. trunk only goes halfway up with remote (would prefer an "all the way up" option)

10. relatively small gas tank (would love to get 700+ miles per tank regularly)

11. that the ambient lighting option was not reasonably available for me

12. the antenna sticking out as it does

I will add more as I think of them.

Any others? What am I forgetting?

9. trunk only goes halfway up with remote (would prefer an "all the way up" option)

Actually I like it this way and maybe it's designed this way, to prevent the trunk popping up and standing water from quickly running off onto the back window and bouncing into the trunk. Right now when there is standing water, the trunk goes up halfway and the water pours down into the channel surrounding the trunk, at least when I pop it every time I wipe down the car after washing.

The trunk lid on my 2010 only went up about an inch or so. My 2013 FFH and MKZh only go up half way. I don't see where this is an issue...just lift the lid the rest of the way....it's not heavy.

And if it went all the way up every time, you would prefer an option for it to only go halfway. That's what I am suggesting - I would like an option. Maybe something as easy as pressing the remote one more time brings it the rest of the way up. Then, everyone would be happy. :)

Not quite - if it went up all the way every time on me and ended up bouncing all the standing water off the back window into the trunk, then I'd say bad words and not be happy. I see what you're saying but having the trunk release spring tension option/setting, personally I would rather they put their R&D efforts into other things.

@ keybman

You definitely nailed all the LOVE once even if I don't have all the same options. On the HATE side I would say it heavily depends on the problems you and others have encountered.

So far I didn't have a single problem and none of the TSBs apply to my car and I keep checking for it.

4 > couldn't tell you I don't have the leaves displayed

11 > took care of that one myself

12 > I don't hate as much

And for the trunk I would say if you want all the things including water run off and fully open in the next step you have to motorized it.

I'm happy it opens at all and as far as it does.

Your Z doesn't have a power trunk lid? :headscratch:

7. the fingerprints on the touchscreen (way too easy to accumulate)

I have cured that problem. I bought a package of styluses at Sam's Club. I no longer have finger prints all over my MLT screen, and it is now second nature for me to grab the thing before I do anything on the MLT. I even use it to press the engine start/stop and transmission select buttons on the center stack... don't want to wear out the paint on those things. ;)

Possibly the fingerprints on the touch screen also, but I've gotten used to that. The ride is still making me smile, and I look for excuses to throw it around a corner a little tighter and harder than I usaully would. Haven't had any tire squealing yet, but it's just plain fun to point and go.

Honestly, can't think of anything right now, except that first little ding I got on the passenger rear door. Very smooth and not deep and no chipping.

Yes, I have the Reserve package, but it still does not open all the way.

So you don't have the full power trunk lid? The reserve package has the power trunk with soft close. I wonder if there is a setting that turns on/off the full open and close feature? Hmmmm. Research time! :)

Way to look for the positive! I like the way it pops up too.

Yes the power trunk comes with the Reserve Package and up. Mine just doesn't go up all the way. I'll have it checked out when I take it in. I haven't had it in for anything since I picked it up.
