'11 Fusion Hybrid Radio Went Weird

Has anyone seen this?

My wife was driving her 2011 Fusion Hybrid and the radio stopped responding. She says that the volume won't change from either the screen, buttons or steering wheel. It reports that it is at maximum volume except that it's not. The preset buttons do not respond but she can change the stations from the steering wheel. She didn't try anything else such as scan but that doesn't seem promising. The one thing that seems weird is that she said she had turned on her high beams before the radio went weird. Could there be a connection?

This is not the first odd electrical issue we've had with the car. Has anyone else had these types of issues?

I've heard of having to pull the SYNC fuse to reset sync if it goes out in the weeds but that doesn't sound like what your describing (the high beam thing sounds like a red herring)
