Intermittent Tire Pressure Monitor Faults

Recommended Posts

We have a 2009 Fusion SE and have been experiencing intermittent Tire Pressure Monitor Faults. We pull the car in the garage over night and the next morning it is gone. We have been having a lot of Snow and Cold here in Minneapolis causing a lot of slush which tends to freeze in the wheel wells. We call the dealer but every time we go to bring it in – the Fault is gone. Any ideas?

What is also interesting is our friends have a 2009 Mustang and are experiencing the same problem. Comes on when driving through snow and slush and goes away after being in the garage over night. I looked for a recall but did not find one?

Sounds like a flaky sensor - can't figure where the cold or snow/slush should cause a problem like that. Unfortunately you'd need to identify which sensor and you need the light on to do that. Either take it in to the dealer next time the light comes on (before it goes out) or see if autozone can read the code for you (or buy a reader).
