6 speaker system w/new heat-unit

I tried searching but could not find any good information to help me.

 

I recently got a new deck for my Fusion which has the 6 speaker system. Two in the front doors, two in the "A" pillars, two in the rear doors.

 

I simply connected the wires and plugged in the wiring harness. The problem is that I believe only the speakers in the rear doors and "A" pillars are working, I don't think any sound is coming out of the front doors. Does that make sense?

 

The Factory deck had two plugs going into it and the new deck only has one.

 

Is there any way (aside from installing an amp) to run all of the speakers off of the new head unit like the factory deck?

 

I assume that the factory deck used an external amp for the front doors: where is that amp located? perhaps I could just hook the new deck into the factory amp.

If it's a Ford head unit then it's not compatible. If it's an aftermarket unit then you just didn't connect the wires properly. If you don't have a wiring diagram for both the vehicle and the head unit or the proper adapters then you should take it to an aftermarket installer or get a connection kit from Crutchfield.

 

The front door speakers are really one 2-way speaker - they just split the woofer and the tweeter. You should have 8 wires going into the head unit - 2 each for front/rear left and right.

 

Do you not have subwoofers in the rear deck?

I had a bit of a brain fart there. after I started to play with the eq feature a little more I somehow got the front speakers going with no bass and the rear going with no treble. Once I actually put my ear up to the door I realized it was working properly. I reset the deck and now it sounds fine.

 

I guess I assumed that 6 speaker meant six separate speakers (silly me huh?) My other car also has a "6 speaker system" and there is a separate amp to run the 6x9 speakers in the rear deck.

 

On a side note:

 

I have a backup camera coming in a couple days, any idea where the "reverse wire" is located?

Trace the wire to one of the backup lamps.
