sawbuck44 Report post Posted October 11, 2010 2007 fusion 4 cyl. the splash guard under the car is hanging and mangled (son...). Costs $163 to replace. Dealer said don't need. So I told them to take it off and not replace it. What are your opinions?
sawbuck44 Report post Posted November 2, 2010 Any thoughts? Husband thinks the guard should be on car. Even though the service guy said don't need it.
FFHdriver Report post Posted November 2, 2010 Any thoughts? Husband thinks the guard should be on car. Even though the service guy said don't need it.It will keep mud and dirt off lots of components. When the plastic one on my Volvo torn up, several years ago, I took it to a shop that made me one out of thin sheet metal. The price was dirt cheap and it never failed again. Hi sawbuck. :D As FFH driver stated, it will keep many engine compartment components protected, It also assists in smoothing undercar airflow (and increases mpg's) at highway speeds (not much of an mpg bump, but every little bit helps). So your husband is correct. Even if for no other reason than protecting the engine compartment components, it should be replaced. Whatever you decide to do, good luck. :beerchug: Edited November 2, 2010 by bbf2530
sawbuck44 Report post Posted November 3, 2010 Thanks for that info! I am going to have it replaced. Going to a different dealer to see if they have it cheaper. I'll let you know!
Waldo Report post Posted November 3, 2010 Why not try a local junk yard? If you can find one in good shape it shouldn't be more than $20.
