xmech2k Report post Posted September 18, 2010 People have been asking this for a while. The only easy way to do this is trade the car in for one with built-in nav.
Geeves Report post Posted September 21, 2010 Hi My friend has Ford fusion SEL 2010But in my country, SEL doesn't come with navigation system. So He want a navigation system Can you help in : 1- What are the parts we need to have the navigation system ?? Well to start you need a Double din nave system. Pioneer, Kenwood ect.You will nedd a Scosche Dash Adaptor to install into your dash. It comes in black or silver.Next you will need i think its called a crab to hook the antenne up to the aftermarket radio. Now you need to decide if your keeping the Microsoft SYNC or not. If so you will need a Sync Interface. To keep the steering wheel control you will need that control modual specific for the after market radio you chose. 2- Can we do it without cut of wires ?? For the most part everything will be plug and play but one or two wires might need to be cut or grounded. 3- If I insert the navigation system, SYNC will not work?? If not work do you have a solution??I've heard of small device with a display screen, what will happen to the main factory screen and can I use the factory screen instead of device screen ?? PAC's MS-FRD1 interface lets you replace the factory radio in select 2008-up Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles that use the Microsoft SYNC® system. You'll retain use of all SYNC system functions in vehicles with Sony®, THX®, Audiophile, and Shaker audio systems, as well as audio systems without external amplifiers. The audio from the SYNC system plays through your aftermarket stereo's auxiliary input. 4- Can he use steering wheel control with the new screen ?? Thats a big no it will only control the radio scan features and volume up and down. You might be able to skip trac on cd im not sure. 5- What will happen to the factory WOOD DASH KIT?? Well its only in black or silver so no wood. I posted a topic in navigation depart for more opinions thank you

Geeves Report post Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Im working on istalling mine right now. Im still wating for a great deal on a new double din head unit. I noticed your ebay links for the install kits. They were not complete If your going to keep Sync. No i have not found a good place to buy things i just look for clearance. Ive put much thought into how my system and how it will all go together. These are the questions you need to ask your self (Q) Do you want to keep the Sync Feature in the car? (Yes) You will need to decide on what Sync interface you want to install. Right now i know of two on the market. Ill get into it a bit.(No) Then you will need the radio harness to avoid cutting wires. on the car. The harness connects the after market nav system wires to plug into your car. (Easy Way Out) (Q) Do you want to keep the controles on the steering wheel? (Yes) Then you need to decide what head unit you are using. Some of the Contole adaptos are brand specific and some are learning controles. Another side note is if you decided to keep the Sync then you will want to buy the same brand Steering wheel adaptor as the Sync Modual.(No) Then just hook up the radio using the radio harness and your done. After you decide on that. you can decide what way to go. Ill tell you my set up. I decided to go with keep sync.I loved the PAC Sync Modual PAC MS-FRD1 but its pricy so i found a Axxess AFSI-01 on clearance so i went that rout. so i decided to go with a Pioneer head unit so now i need to buy a axxess pioneer steering wheel audi control adaptor. I have a silver dash so I bought a Scosche Dash Adaptor in silver. Now all i need is a crab. Hope this helps Edited September 22, 2010 by Geeves
