Got a switch blade key !!

Recommended Posts

I was working with the eBay Vendor '1113transponderkey' out of Taiwan. (I assumed it was the same vendor mentioned by Allen84; price and shipping matched.) His Ford Flip Key was $48 including shipping. I emailed him a question through eBay and he said it would be $3 plus shipping for a new uncut blade. When I told him I would be ordering another full flip key for $48 from him, he said he would include extra uncut blade, which he did. Arrived within a week US Postal

Yeap... same guy. I already ordered a new blade.

Got my key and programmed it.

Question is has anyone been able to connect it to a key ring?

The opening is so small that a normal ring will not weave through it.

Any ideas?

thanks

Get an intermediate ring that will fit in a hardware store.

Is that only me who got one problem after another? The remote stopped working all of sudden - the key can still start the engine - just the remote doesn't work. I tried to re-learn the remote but the computer didn't want to go into learning mode. Hope I didn't disable the car's learning ability altogether

I was able to take the scew out of the remote and remove the two halves and put a small chain through the hole and put the two halves back together. It's one of those small round ball chains.

I have a couple of Mazda flip keys that are blanks, do you think they will work for the FFH? They look exactly like the flip key in the picture above.

I just had trouble getting mine go to into Learning Mode, with either my original key OR my flip key. It was just a problem doing the '8 full turns' quick enough! After that I could get it into Learning Mode with either key. It has to happen 8 times in 10 seconds. Might not be a key problem. Good Luck

I just had the same thing happen to me. About a week after I had programmed my second flip key, I noticed that my first flip key could start the car but could no longer operate as a remote. I had programmed my second flip key with my first flip key and an original to confirm that I didn't need 2 originals and everything had appeared to go well. I had used the second flip key for the past week without a problem.

I was able to reprogram the first key as a remote this weekend without a problem. I'll have to switch back and forth to confirm that the 2 flip keys hold their remote programming!

make sure all your doors are unlocked using the power lock button, before you start the 8x key turning. you go back and forth from #2 to #3 position gotta do it quickly within 10 seconds, the 8th turn ending at position #3.

if you hear the doors lock and unlock, you are in programming mode for the remote.

I've had my flip key for a couple of months now, and it has twice been stuck in the open position. The first time, I took it apart and found that one of the two screws holding the blade had worked its way out, so I screwed it back in, and it worked for a while, but yesterday it did the same thing again.

This time I tried blue locktite on it, so we'll see if it stays put this time. Anyone else had this problem with it?

It does seem like those screws aren't made very well.

I took my key to he dealer, and they said they would program it, but not cut it. I took it to a locksmith to cut it, and they have the ability to program as well. Before cutting it, he scanned both keys and said the chips are different, and the flip key wouldn't work. Looks like I get to contact the seller and see what the word is.

OK, I bit the bullet and bought a second dealer key. I got the car into program mode, i pressed the button on the flip key, and each button press only made the car honk, not perform any of the intended functions. Once the car is out of program mode, the key does nothing. Looks like I'm out of luck.

Hi Dave. :D I am confused as to whether you currently have one or two programmed keys. Did you have the second key you purchased at the Dealership programmed? If you had the one you just purchased at the Dealer programmed (and therefore have two programmed keys in your possession), then that means the flip-key is incompatible/bad and will not work (assuming you followed the programming directions correctly). If that is the case, you can ignore the rest of this reply, with my apologies for the confusion. :banghead:

However, if it was not programmed by the Dealer, that would mean you only have one programmed key in your possession? If that is correct, you can not program a second key on your own. As the Owners Manual explains, a vehicle owner must have two programmed keys in already their possession before they can program a third (or fourth etc.) key. This is an anti-theft protection measure.

If you only have one programmed key, the second new key must be programmed by a Ford/Lincoln Mercury Dealer, or a locksmith who has the correct electronics to do so. Once that second key is programmed, you will be able to purchase and program further keys on your own. The story is the same for all IKT transistor keys, whether it is a Dealer purchased Ford OEM key or an Ebay flip key knock-off.

When re-programming keys, you must first program one of the two already programmed keys, then the second already programmed key, then you can program a blank third key, fourth key.etc.. But without the second programmed key, the programing can not proceed to the blank keys.

Hope this information helps. Keep us updated.

Good luck. :beerchug:

I bought and had a second key programmed at the dealer today. I got the car into programming mode, and when I push the buttons to get the flip key to program, it honks the horn on the car and doesn't actually program. It appears they aren't compatible.

I just got my key in the mail, yesterday. Hopefully I can get it cut and programmed in the near future.

I finally got around to getting the key cut at Wal-Mart yesterday. The gentleman that was working was extremely hesitant about cutting the key, so I told him that I would remove all liability off of him if it doesn't work. Tonight, I plan on following the instructions and programming it to my car!

I tried for 45 minutes last night to put my Fusion in Programming Mode with zero success. I have no idea why I was so unsuccessful to put my car into programming mode. Does it matter if the radio is on or off? Is there anything else other than the doors being unlocked, that I may have wrong? Any help/advice/tips are welcomed!

I know your pain. I also suffered through it the first time I tried. Its frustrating!. I can only say that once I got quick enough at cycling the key from Position 2 to 3 and back, 8 times within 10 seconds, ending at position 3, it has always worked. It feels good when you FINALLY hear the power door lock cycle, lock to unlock.

I have done it a couple of times since then because it appears that the key loses it's program, once when it went through the wash! Imagine that! Replaced the battery and alls well!. But the trick appears to be the 8 cycles in 10 seconds. You can't dawdle.

Good luck

- Close all doors

- UNLOCK ALL DOORS, using the power lock button inside your car door

- insert an original key into ignition, and turn it to the #2, ON position.

- when at position #2, turn to position #3, do this 8 FULL times back and forth all within 10 seconds

- ending at the 8th time on the #3 Position, in 1 sec, you will hear all your car locks all lock and unlock, confirming the car is in PROGRAMMING MODE.

I was amazed I got mine in 7 days! I took it to Home Depot, and at first we (the key guy) and I thought his equipment couldn't cut it. Then I noticed the little screws. We took them both out, and the blade (key) slid right out of the pivot (hinge). He was able to cut it, and didn't even charge me. About 10 minutes later I had it programed, and it works great.

Thanks!

nope there is no connection, if you flip the blade 90 degrees, you will notice a tiny screw holding the blade in place, in the metal flip thingy. im gussing you unscrew that little screw and blade comes out for you to replace.

so filing the blade down, you can open the car doors and start the car now?? wow thats cool how got a temporary fix for now lol. yeah just use the button to open the trunk anyway lol, i dont even open the trunk for any reason with the key, when i can use the remote do to that anyway, easier.
