gene Report post Posted July 21, 2010 can you wax right away or does the paint needs to cure more?
Grey Report post Posted July 21, 2010 Factory applied paint is cured at high temperatures (before rubber and trim pieces are installed). You may wax it at any time with a quality wax (without any abrasives.) Collision shop paint repiars need from 60-90 days to ensure full cure before wax is recomended. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
bbf2530 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 Hi Gene. :D What Grey stated is 100% correct. You can wax a new car/factory paint job the day you bring the car home. Paint jobs by Collision Repair, Body Shops etc. must be allowed to air cure because they can not be heat cured at high temperatures. Good luck. :beerchug:

blumagic Report post Posted July 22, 2010 Great to hear did not want to harm new car thank you Grey & bbf2530. No problem, just go ahead and wax it, I used a clay bar on mine after 1 week of owning it then i waxed it using turtle wax ice, i brought it new, and you would be amazed at how it turned out, GREAT is all I can say... Petruc4140 Report post Posted April 11, 2013 Tell me if I'm crazy our not! Anyone else noticed the paint color on plastic painted parts (front and rear bumpers, side skirts) appears to be just a shade deeper then on hood, door panels, wings and trunk lid? Perhaps it's just the Ice Storm color, like mine, but I do see a difference.
acdii Report post Posted April 11, 2013 Your not crazy. The bumpers probably have flexible clear coat, which can change lighter colors just a tad. They may also have been painted at a different time and not when the car itself was painted, so the dye lot(colorant) may not be a 100% match.
Errol Ikalina Report post Posted April 28, 2015 My 2013 fusion has exactly that problem, the left side of the rear bumper is a lot duller than the body (White). I don't know what happened but you can tell it's a different shade, the right side though is fine.
