Need Help!! Side View Mirror Replacement

I came out of the store yesterday only to find that someone knocked my side view mirror off of my car, so it is just dangling by the wires. I called ford to see how much the parts were going to cost and it will run me about $140 not including the painting. My question is, to avoid having to pay for them to paint the mirror housing to match the car color, is there a way to take the painted portion of my original mirror and put it on the new one? If not, I welcome any ideas on how to deal with replacing the mirror.

Hmm...I can't answer the paint question...

 

...But I had my mirror knocked off. It was actually my fault, but thats besides the point. I would definitely contact your insurance company if it wasn't your fault. If you have a perfect driving record they probably won't raise your premium for something like that (but its not guaranteed). 140 is what I paid for the mirror and the paint job was another 50 bucks I think.

Hi Nathan,

You are implying that the painted portion is good condition, yes that is a replaceable part. Here is a pdf of how to replace a Taurus (very similar to Fusion) mirror cover.
