Will 245 45 R17 fit on my 06 ford fusion?

Recommended Posts

I think you'll be fine with that size, the 245/45/17 will be 4/10th of an inch (or 10MM) bigger on the inside & outside. That is assuming that you are using the same rim. It will be a different story with another rim with a different offset.

That wide of a tire should be on a 7.5" wide wheel at a minimum. If you have a stock wheel that's 7", I wouldn't do it. But definitely consult a tire expert, because I am not.

Fits perfectly fine, even on the stock rim. I have 245/45/17 General Exclaim UHP's I got from Tirerack on the '06 factory rims. I wanted the extra 20mm of width for the slightly more aggressive look it provides. I had no problem whatsoever with the rim width, despite the "official" position. Nor did my tire installer. My only real concern was that I'd end up with a heavier tire that would hurt acceleration and gas mileage. The listed weight for the Exclaim was near the weight of the factory Michelin, and I have not seen any decrease in either mileage or acceleration, although the 245 is a fraction shorter, which may push the numbers a little. But as far as I am concerned, the car should have come with a 245 in the first place. The bonus was that the Exclaim was way cheaper than the Michelin (or just about every other tire out there), and it has a better grip.

Can you post a pic of your car w\ these tires?

Do the new tires have the road noise of the stock michelins? I would say that's my biggest complaint. I have a cadillac style car w\ the wheel noise of a 4x4.
