Stainless Steel or Chrome Exhaust Tips

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to change the original round exhaust tips on my 2010 SEL V6 to oval or rectangular or trapezoidal-shaped tips. What are the qualities and/or brands to look for? How much should I pay for them? Is it something I can do myself, or should I have a shop do it? Any advice and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading this.

I'd first check to see if the existing tips can be removed or if they are welded to the ends of the exhaust pipe. Otherwise, you would need to install some large diameter replacements which might look a little weird.

Definately go with Stainless Steel, they will last much longer. You do need to see if your current ones are welded on, because many of them are. You would then need to have an exhaust shop cut-off your current ones, and Tac Weld on the new ones.

Thanks to you both. I'll check the original tips on the weekend. Any suggestions in terms of brand names?

Stainless. I think I had a Pilot on my Taurus.
