Trouble with adding 6x9's in rear deck

Hi, i recently bought two pioneer 6x9's and an amp to put in the rear deck of my 2007 se with the six speaker stereo. i want to keep the stock head unit so i can use the steering wheel controls and the six disc cd changer. After hooking everything up and splicing into the rear speakers i went to turn the radio on and the head unit turned off the sound. when i unhook the amp all the stock speakers work, but my new ones dont. im thinking maybe i messed up the impediance. i tried disconnecting the rear door speakers but that didnt work either. any help would be greately appreciated. thanks.

What did you connect to for signal to the amp, and did you go through a line output converter (mentioned above)? Many amps have these built in now, did you use that? We need the specifics of how you "spliced into the rear speakers". It sounds like you are shorting out the factory amp - which is really a tiny output IC. Perhaps you have the left and right +/- interchanged...
