pcgsy Report post Posted March 5, 2010 Has anyone replaced their stock air filter with a K & N oil impingement air filter and is it difficult to do? The Ford factory air cleaner assembly is $275.00. The K & N drop in filter is $49.00.

Dan I assume that the reason it is so expensive is that it is kind of built in, and once you do get at it, it can be cleaned, like a K&N filter. There was another thread on this subject in this area, I think someone posted who was familiar with how to get at it, I think through the front left wheel well cover. Oman Report post Posted March 5, 2010 The air box is a pretty tightly tuned part of the Atkinson cycle engine. Since it should never need replacing I certainly would not risk changing it out just to change it out. SailCar Report post Posted March 5, 2010 Even if it were a tradional filter, I wouldn't be inclined to modify it. The way I drive my FFH, the engine doesn't work very hard, and likely never will.
