2010 Fusion SEL... What do I need to hook up my iPod?

I have a 60 (or is it an 80 GB) iPod w/ Video... I can use the 1/8" jack but to have them talk I just need a standard USB2 to iPod Dock plug? Such as the one that came with the iPod?

Yep...same cable you use to charge it from your computer. plug it in, let it index, press the sync button twice real quick and say "play album, track, artist, or playlist and name of the aforementioned, and enjoy. Or, you can press it once and let it prompt you.

It works pretty well in general, beware though, it doesn't always understand you lol.

Mine rarely makes a mistake...I make more trying to use it, than it does trying to play something.

I use funny alternate titles for some of my songs just to hear the SYNC lady curse. lol Its a cheap laugh.

Is there anything special that needs to be done for an Ipod Nano to work? My HTC Touch Pro2 works beutifully with Sync as a USB device and a blutetooth phone, but my wife has to use the line-in to listen to her Ipod, the USB wont detect it.

Might use a different cable - can't remember for sure. Check at www.syncmyride.com.

I have a ipod Nano and it works perfectly with my sync. Just use the USB cable and wait for it to index. Then select USB and the voice controls will then work.

My son connected his Nano (4) to the USB connection of SYNC and found that he cannot use the Nano wheel to go to a song he wants to hear. While I would like to use SYNC to go to tunes I want to listen to, in this case he was a passenger and he is actually quicker than SYNC. Does SYNC stop Nano/iPod controls from working? Thanks.

Yep, Sync is an audio accessory, and that takes over control from the iPod when using the 30 pin connector.

He'll have to use the line-in aux jack and a male/male headphone cable if he wants to control it manually. If it was a Touch he could connect it via bluetooth.

Can you leave the ipod connected via the USB port plugged in all the time. Is there a reason to unplug the ipod when the car is not in use?

I'm reasonably sure the USB port isn't powered when the car is turned off, so if you leave the ipod on it won't be charging and might run down the ipod battery. Otherwise, no problem.

I tried pronoucing things very slowly but still had issues with Jiggy I think...
