aboston Report post Posted December 4, 2009 Hi, just got a new AWD fusion sport. A guy with a lexus in my parking lot had his wheels stolen overnight, which makes we worry a bit about my new cars wheels. I know that lexus wheels are a target for thieves, what about the fusions? They are painted aluminum so I assume they are a less valueable item?? Can't say I know much about wheels... -Alex

Can't say I know much about wheels... -Alex Hi aboston. :D Almost any cars wheels can be the target of thieves, if they want them for their own purpose. And Lexus wheels are no more special than Fusion wheels. Whether polished aluminum, painted aluminum, chromed aluminum etc. etc., aluminum wheels are expensive and therefore the target of thieves. Therefore my advice would be: For the $30-$40 cost, get the wheel locks and rest easy. I have the Ford accessory wheel locks for my cars. They are manufactured by "McGard" Link: McGard, a major wheel lock supplier. Essentially, you can get them at any good auto shop (the less expensive option), or order them through Ford. In addition, although I have always used Mcgard, I have heard that "Gorilla" Link: Gorilla also makes good wheels lock products. Also, keep in mind that just like any anti-theft system, it will only go so far. If a "good" lowlife thief really wants your wheels, any wheel lock can be defeated. But wheel locks will deter most thieves, since they will simply go find another car with the same wheels and no locks. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug: Edited December 4, 2009 by bbf2530
aboston Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Thanks for the advice. I noticed 'ford' wheel locks for 40$ online but I just went to a local store and bought a pack of 4 locks for 10$. Guess if a thief is really stupid they won't figure out how to get them off!
