robm15 Report post Posted October 9, 2009 Yesterday morning on the way to work, I was accelerating from a full stop to 40 MPH when the check engine light came on solid. It stayed light over the past 24 hours, and didn't turn off until this morning when I restarted my car after getting gas. From the time the light first came on until it went off the car had been stopped and started 5 times under normal conditions. My car is a 2010 FFH with 7,030 miles on it when the check engine light first came on. I know that a loose gas cap can cause a check engine light, but since our FFH's don't have a gas cap I didn't expect that to be a problem. But since the light went off after I filled the tank, is there any thoughts that the cap less system can open it self and cause the problem? Has anyone else seen this? I have an appointment Saturday at the dealer I purchased my car from to get a oil change, and I'll ask them to check the cap less system to see if it is moving freely internally. Hi robm. :D There can be various causes for the Check Engine light. While the light is no longer illuminated, there is still the chance that a code may be stored in memory. Since you already have a Saturday appointment for the oil change, be sure to mention the light and describe the specific circumstances to the Service Writer. Hopefully they also have a Tech in on Saturdays who can hook your car up to the diagnostic system, and not just guys who perform oil changes and basic maintenance. Let us know how you make out. Good luck. :beerchug:
robm15 Report post Posted October 10, 2009 I took my FFH in for service this morning. The code on the check engine light was for a EGR flow error. The technician said that there was a TSB on this problem, and he reprogrammed the computer and it should be good to go. I'm glad it was something simple! Scott A320 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 I had the check-engine light illuminate 3 times yesterday, all during initial startup, and lasting the duration of each trip segment. Most recent refueling was about a week ago, so didn't believe it to be related to the flapper valve. No issues today during two cycles. Hopefully it was an abberation, because with barely 3k on the odo, it's not convenient to make a special trip to the dealer.
Hypermiler Report post Posted October 27, 2009 My Service Engine Soon light illuminated last friday and stayed on during the weekend. Took it in today and they said it was for the EGR(exhaust gas recirculation) error as well. Its TSB 09-19-13.
bigrigmike Report post Posted October 27, 2009 Well I am glad I read this thread. My engine light came on during start up last week, ~8,000 miles. I turned the car off and then on and it went away so I really didn't think anything of it. I think for my next oil change I will mention it and see if it was the EGR valve.
