wstcoaster07 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 Call me crazy, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to say "play track" or "play artist" or "call ____" no matter what menue you were in? I dont understand why I have to say "phone" "call ____" as if "call___ " is a function in music as well so I have to specify phone. Or am I stupid and have some setting wrong? Also, is there a way to have the nav screen come back when a call ends without touching anything? I like how it goes to the phone screen when I say call but it would be nice for the map to come back up once I am done with my phone functions (in case of using directions)

jeff_h Report post Posted September 27, 2009 perfectionist what can I say I have seen a few postings on this over in www.fordsyncforum.com -- the bottom line is that the sync system is made by Microsoft, the nav system is made by Pioneer (if I remember right) and they are not yet fully integrated, so you have to give that introductory command to set the system down the right path, so to speak. Like I said, it's over at fordsyncforum and you can get a more detailed answer there.
Oman Report post Posted September 28, 2009 I could not agree more that the sync voice commands are frustratingly disorganized. Some commands can be strung together from the start and some can not. It takes longer to get it to play the artist Rush on the USB stick than to input a destination address in South Dakota. I doubt a software update will fix it. Jon As for navigation.... it should allow input to a destination while driving if someone is seated in the passenger seat so they can enter the info, not the driver. It already has a sensor to detect for the airbag so maybe in the future editions they can use the same electric signal to unlock some of the navigation features that are usually locked out while driving. The voice thing works great though so at least you can go that route while driving. All in all though I love this car btw
smr2112 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 Yes, us in the computer business say "random access" vs. "sequential access". It is frustrating as hell andyou get used to this. Sometimes if you just try and string commands together, it works and othertimes it does not without rhyme or reason. The Acura HandsfreeLink is a random access system - you can say any command from any point, but overall Sync has way more features. You get used to it, but your criticism is valid. The trick to Sync is....practice, practice, practicse. And then it sticks in your brain.
