Bluetooth phone problems anyone?

Recommended Posts

I was able to get my bluetooth phone (Sony Ericsson 810i) connected without any trouble, and finally enabled the "911 Assist" just to kill the annoying reminder. The phone generally works well when coupled with the car.

However, about 1/4 of the time the car seems to get confused to the extent that it doesn't think it is connected to the phone any more, and the phone locks up to the point that the buttons are not responsive for several (sometimes more than 5) minutes. I have to reset the phone or the car (or both) to get things resynchronized again.

I've never had any trouble with the phone, only with the car bluetooth.

Anyone else see this?

I have seen this and a few other issues, but I think it is Bluetooth in general--not Ford. Through the years of using Bluetooth, I have had random connectivity "events" using Bluetooth, whether it be via wireless room speakers to wireless microphones in an auditorium. FWIW, I am a technology facilitator for an A/V support group for a large city convention center. So what... well, we have to use various connectivity methods for equipment, including Bluetooth. I really don't like Bluetooth.

I noticed my Palm Pre does this from time to time...but my old HTC phone didn't at all. I think it's phone manufacturer dependent?

Interesting, my phone connection decided to just disappear. Since the car had been in the body shop for a couple of months, I figured that it had lost programming -- but during a quick look Ford thought a module died. No reaction to pushing the phone button on either the wheel or center stack. Doesn't recognized either of the two Motorolas that it had been paired to. The car is back in the shop for the punch list sort of body shop issues (overspray, trim pieces. etc) and they will take it to Ford for whatever needs to be replaced. In talking with the Ford hybrid tech, he hadn't seen any pattern of phone connectivity problems.

My iPhone has lost pairing a few times. I end up having to re pair to the car.

One really annoying thing though. for some reason, every time I get into the car it starts my iPhone music player even thought I do not stream music to the car that way (If I play music I hook the iPhone up to usb port and use sync). The sound does not come out of the car speakers, it just starts iPhone music player going. Total waste of battery! AGH! I hope there's a new update to sync soon!!

My iPhone from time to time doesn't connect. I agree with Irymal. It just isn't the most reliable connectivity method.

Mine will occasionally start streaming music from my iphone over bluetooth right after I start the car for no reason. It only started to happen after the SYNC 3.0 update. I'm hoping the next update will fix it.

There is an option to turn that "feature" off. It is new to Sync 3.0. Look in the options for user device playback. Something like auto-start music playing. It is extremely annoying and it depletes by iPhone even faster than it usually does.

Same deal here. I thought I thought I had done something wrong. :banghead:
