Ditty Report post Posted September 13, 2009 First a little back ground. It is the 07 Fusion SE (I-4) with an appearance package (black leather seats with red stitching). The problem: I noticed today, while cleaning, that the left side of the driver seat (the outside part, directly below the thigh), and the right side of the passanger seat (also outter part of the seat , directly below the thigh) is cracking. When you sit in the seat, the pressure exterted down --from my butt-- makes that part of the seat wrinkle...and on that wrinkle is where the cracks have developed. Now the damage is done, I fear I will have to fix it and lord knows how I will prevent future damage from resulting-- since anybody's butt makes that part of the leather wrinkle. I guess my question is: Has anybody else had this problem? (I have never had leather seats before). And I am supposing that having this fall under 'warranty' work is a snow flakes chance in hell. (Although on a two year old vehicle, you would think it would be). Just looking for thoughts out there. Thanks in advance. Ditty

Dyoct Report post Posted September 27, 2009 I've driven and seen alot of Ford vehicles with leather seats. The driver seat does not hold up well. I don't know when exactly Ford went cheap. The driver seat in my 92 Taurus looks brand new compared to my 06 Fusion.
hartbw Report post Posted October 13, 2009 I have an 06 Ford Fusion SE with the sport package which comes with the leather seats. My interior color is called camel sand, so it is a very light color and my driver seat has the exact same problem. The cracking has not happened to any of the other seats, only the driver seats. You can tell that the leather is of a cheap grade just by the way it doesnt seem to clean like full leather, and by the way it feels. Maybe Ford was cheap in the first year of this car, or does it still happen in the 09's?
