mirak Report post Posted August 28, 2009 Just got my car yesterday. Fully loaded 502A and it is awesome! One question (I'm sure I'll have many more): Is the antenna car-wash safe?

Oman Report post Posted August 28, 2009 A high pressure or cloth/wag auto wash would be fine. The rollers types (of which there are not many around here any more) would be best to remove the antenna. Jon No. It screws off.
Scott A320 Report post Posted August 28, 2009 Any idea why Ford specified an old-school whip antennae vs. more stylish blade-style? Cost?
Rodeo Report post Posted August 28, 2009 No.Well then is it "dishwasher" safe?? :hysterical2:
mirak Report post Posted August 28, 2009 No. It screws off. Good to know. I don't see that Ford is offering any alternate "blade" of "fin" type antennas as accessories. Anybody replaced the antenna?
smr2112 Report post Posted August 28, 2009 The antenna has a wire wrapped around it coming from the base, does this all disconnect? What a pain, how flexible is this thing? How about snowbrush-proof? I think thatsometimes the Ford engineers don't actually drive cars...

I think thatsometimes the Ford engineers don't actually drive cars...It is my understanding at least from GM as they do the same is that wire wrapped around it is just to cut the wind noise that could be possible. The wire has no other purpose.
