George Cole Report post Posted August 12, 2009 I'm new here and just took delivery of my new FFH. I want to remove that damn butt ugly front license plate holder. I know that I have to fill/plug the holes but is there a plug available to make this happen? Thanks,George ColeFayetteville, Georgia

I don't even have my FFH yet and am also looking for a way to plug the front. I asked my dealer when I ordered it built to not include the front bracket but he said since I am purchasing it in TX it has to be put on the order, even though it will be registered to FL where a front plate is not req. smr2112 Report post Posted August 12, 2009 Geez.... I custom ordered my car so I'd not have this issue at all. PA does not requirefront license plates. And here is the bad part... Ford dealer does not have thesecolor matched plugs - they used to do it, but not any more. Acura does it as the holesare pre-drilled and they sell the color matched plugs for $5 and it looks good and theyare flush. Now I know that the FFH does not come from the factory with the holes in it. Thedealer drills them in, and as I walked the lot, there are plenty of cars with the dealers"promo" tag on the front - mostly all the lower end cars and lower end Fusions, notthe more expensive ones (go figure). I clearly have on my sales order "No Front License Plate, No Decals" - and it wasleft out of my order. Otherwise it comes in the trunk and when they prepare thecar, they drill away unless you can prevent it.

George Cole Report post Posted August 12, 2009 Well here is a case of some flunky salesman pissing on your foot and trying to tell you it's raining outside....I was told that the hybrids come from the factory with the plate bracket installed....I know mine was built in Mexico with the transmission from Japan...This is helping the American auto workers????? go figure....getting back to my original problem..I did procure two jumungus pop rivets to fit into the holes but I have to paint them...pop in plugs would be so much better......The up side is that I unloaded a 1995 740iL BMW that was a hole for throwing money into and did get $5400.00 for it....imagin a $76,000.00 car depreciating that much.....Good thing is I didn't buy it new.... Thanks for the info... George ColeFayetteville, Georgia

They could be in some cases, I am not 100% sure that all come without it. But I know mine is new and has no holes and no bracketin the trunk for the monkeys to screw into it. Some fusions on the lot have a front tag, some do not. But I would think Georgia would get them without and a bracket in the trunk - unless they delete itfrom the order - which I waited 2 months for! http://www.worldlicenceplates.com/usa/US_XLPR.html Now if you'll excuse me, I am about to go pick up my new car and hopefully it will not have afront tag on like when I saw it off the truck a few days ago. I will ask to see it before I turn overmy check. I am trading my Jap car made in Ohio for US company's car made in Mexico... like anything makessense any more. :finger:

Eight weeks later I got the car and found the front bracket in the trunk and nothing drilled. Boy I was lucky!
WAFFH Report post Posted August 13, 2009 When I ordered my FFH I pacifically stated that I did not want the front license bracket mounted (WA is a front license state). Everytime I talked with the fleet manager (he's the one I dealt with), I reminded him that I did not want the front license bracket mounted. Just before the car arrived, I reminded him one more time. When the car arrived (but before prep) I took a look at it and reminded the prep people to just leave the front license bracket in the trunk. That is where it still is! Don't want holes on the front to fill but have the bracket in case I am forced to put it on.

Picked mine up tonight and sales guy told me that when they come on the truck, some have the plate drilledand some do not - with no logical pattern. That was the first thing he said that I actuallybelieve. No bracket for me, but he confessed he had to stop prep guys from putting a decal on itjust as he had it peeled and was attaching it! markwilson66 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 When I bought mine I told them not to mount it and the sales guy wrote a note and put it in with the floor mats and also hid the bracket. I was surprised that they actually followed my instructions. Would have been annoyed if they mounted it. Hope I don't get a ticket. Just got my windows tinted and the tint guy said 90% of the people who get busted for too dark of tint have no front license plate.
