FFH on order

Recommended Posts

So I put an order in for my '10 FFH. I ordered it in tuxedo black, med light stone leather interior (leather is tan the way I saw it), 502A package w/remote start key for just shy of 30k. I assume from most of what I read that it is a good deal I got?

Also, my question is does anyone else have the black with the tan interior and how do they like it / do you have pics. I really like the tan look with the black (my buddies VW) but kinda curios as to why ford chose to use tan and gray trim inside instead of tan w/black trim

AND, I asked the dealer if he could take the "front plate bracket" off of the order the day I placed it and he said it wouldn't let him. If I push harder to get it removed is it possible or is it too late? (I doubt it is actually being built already right?)

It will let him take it off, my dealer had mine taken off.

When I placed my order for my FFH, I asked the Fleet Manager (I dealt with him instead of a salesman) that the front plate bracket not be installed (it comes with the car and is mounted at the dealership with the car arrives).

Nearly every time I talked the the Fleet Manager about the order, delivery, etc. I reminded him that I did not want the front plate bracket mounted.

When the car arrived at the dealership, before it was prepped, I reminded him again that I did not want the bracket mounted.

I had SUCCESS! The bracket is still in the trunk and will keep it in case I have to mount a front plate later on.

Good deal! Is that before state taxes? Mine was just over $30k before state taxes and without the remote start.

The dealer put some sort of front plate bracket thingie in my trunk. I don't have anything like that mounted on the front of my car: http://ffh.squarespace.com/blog/2009/6/9/f...mpressions.html

yea 29.9k before tax. However, being in the military stationed outside FL I am not liable for state sales tax in FL as long as I register it there but do not return within 6 months. The dealer had ever heard of this so I am sure it will be a it of leg work to get done, but I have had some friends work it out.

As for the front bracket, I will try just hounding them when it gets close to delivery and hope that the manufacturing plant did not install it already. The problem is that TX requires it so that is why they said it had to be ordered. However, since my car will be titled in FL, I should fall under their laws

The dealer also offered to throw in window tinting but I think they use some real cheap place in town for $100 so i may decline and get it one at a place I know is good for $160

Still nervous about how the tan with stone trim is going to turn out. If anyone has it let me know.

Don't forget about the hybrid tax credit (read more IRS fun...)

hybrid tax credit

Definitely will not be missing out on that. I just hope that if I pay no tax on the car, I can still get the credit.

Remember there are 2 tax incentives in play right now -- first is the current $1,700 credit (figured after you compute taxes owed on the back page of the 1040) which would apply to most everyone (I don't know if there is an income threshold for this) and is $1,700 until Sep 30 then goes down to $850. The the second is the state tax deduction on the federal form (whether that is on the front page of the 1040 or in sched A, I guess we will see; this is deduction that reduces the amount of income that your federal tax is computed upon) which would apply if you actually paid sales tax (depending on your state, of course) on a new car purchased this year (not just the FFH, this should be any new car and again check for the income threshold).

There is no income threshold on the tax credit thanks to the stimulus bill.

Also, Pennsylvania has a $500 rebate for hybrid purchases.

And, the "cash for clunkers" bill appears to be about to pass; too bad I missed out on that, would have been worth $4500 to me :(

I wasn't sure on the income thresholds and didn't want to give out bad info, thanks.

On the "cash for clunkers", I wonder if there is a ownership restriction on what is sold off to buy a new car? In other words, I suppose there may be some type of restriction to keep someone from (for example) buying an '82 Suburban with 10 MPG for $300 and then trading it in under this program shortly after for $4,500 for the purpose of buying a new fuel-efficient car?

The vehicle has to have been insured by the owner for the last year and there is no trade-in value beyond the voucher. The program is also available for leases. Dealers are required to provide proof that the vehicle (1984 MY or later) has been crushed or shredded.
