kirkster57 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I am curious as to why the xtra charge for the tri coat paint on the new Fusion? Is it because it takes more time to do, magical powers, etc.? If anyone knows please reply. Kirk

Hi Kirk. :D Simply put, because as the name states it is a three step painting process. A regular clearcoat paint is considered to be a two step process (color coat and clearcoat). So, if a customer wants the more complicated/time consuming/costly "Tri-coat paint", there is a price involved. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
kirkster57 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 thanks for the reply. i figured the "tri" meant something extra. I know BMW and some other foreign car makers charge extra for some paints, this is one of hte few domestic brands i've seen.i'm supposed to pick up my new car tonight and I am getting itchy for it. I'm gonna tak a good look at that tri step paint. Kirk EDIT - I was typing my reply at the same time that akirby answered, so some of my reply is now redundant.
