2010SEL Report post Posted July 21, 2009 ... From what you explained, all The Tire Rack is telling you is that they do not yet sell the correct sensors for the new 2010 models. They probably will eventually... Uh...... I just bought wheels/tires/sensors from Tire Rack. For a 2010 Fusion SEL. No problems!
bbf2530 Report post Posted July 21, 2009 Uh...... I just bought wheels/tires/sensors from Tire Rack. For a 2010 Fusion SEL. No problems! Hi 2010SEL. :D Not sure why you quoted my reply. I never said The Tire Rack does or does not carry the 2010 sensors. I merely dealt with pcs's statements. "pcsgrp35se" said he was told by the Tire Rack that they do not yet have the 2010 sensors. Therefore you should have quoted his post where he made that statement. I'm not going to call the Tire Rack to verify what he said he was told. I did not speak to The Tire Rack and have no need to. I am simply explaining how TPMS systems and sensors can vary from car to car. So perhaps you can provide the information on your purchase to him. Part #'s etc. That would be helpful. Good luck. :beerchug:
2010SEL Report post Posted July 22, 2009 Sorry, I wasn't criticizing anyone in particular. The statement "The Tire Rack is telling you is that they do not yet sell the correct sensors for the new 2010 models" was just wrong, whoever originally made it, or came to that conclusion. I posted the fact that I bought wheels/tires/sensor for my 2010 over a month ago, but for some reason a lot of people are still confused (not you). pcsgrp35se Report post Posted July 23, 2009 I initially called tire rack two months ago. When I called them yesterday I was told that they do have the sensors to fit their rims, but you need to have rims that have a notch for where the tpms sensor is located. I called schreader the other day and they said that it uses a model 20315 semsor which fits the 09 escape and F series picupps along with the 1010 fusion and mustang. They also said the the wheel had to be made to accept the sensor (a space notched into the rim so it seats correctly). So here is my issue. I have a set of take off rims that were manufactured in May 2008 which means that they are either from an 08 or 09 year fusion SEL. Tire rack said that I can't add their sensors to that rim unless the rim is made to accept it, the notched area. From memory I don't recall a notch in the area of the valve but just regular. Is there an option for me other then a small piece of black tape over the light
PILLS53716 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 Can anyone advise if the Mustang 17 X 8 Bullet wheel will fit on the 2010 Fusion SE I4? Mustang wheels offset is 45 mm. Bolt pattern 5-114. See photo. I have currently installed a set of the aforementioned wheels to my car. It gives the astethtics a whole new look. They came with TPM's allready attached. I bought the TPM "Tool" from STEEDA and calibrated the TPM's myself. They fit fine. So if anyone needs a set of 18 Inchers with tires and TPM's give me a buzz. The tires and wheels have 7610 miles max on them. I will sell them for $600.00 plus shipping. Sincerely, Me
pcsgrp35se Report post Posted July 31, 2009 I flew down to sydney australia a few days ago and first thing I noticed, the fords down here are very, very nice. I wonder if the rims from here would work on a fusion. I am going to go to a ford dealership tomorrow and look at the cars as well as ask that question. bartman1 Report post Posted August 9, 2009 How did you deal with the tpms issue? I also have a sport with 18" rims and picked up a set of takeoff rims from a 08/09 which didn't have tpms sensors. From what I understand, I just can't add the sensor to the older rims because of the way they fit. Did you install them on the new rims? I put a set of 18" SAP wheels on my '10 SEL. The SAPs have the banded sensors which do NOT work with the '10. In 2010 Ford went to the valve-stem mounted sensors, which are available on eBay. I have purchased four Valve Stem/TPMS and have confirmed with my Ford TPMS tool that the car can recognize them. This week I am having them installed. My concern is that the valve stems may not be the proper size for the SAP wheels - that is to say that they may not give enough clearance inside the wheel to mount the TPMS sensors. I have had some users on another forum say that they will fit, and some on this forum which say they will not. Let you know this week. If they don't fit, I believe I can purchase after-market valve stems which will accept the Ford TPMS sensors. This is getting to be an expensive swap but I love the look of the SAP wheels, which were not offered when I ordered my SEL.
pcsgrp35se Report post Posted August 10, 2009 Where did you get the sensors? If they fit on SAP rims then then should fit on the 07/08 rims I picked up. Although I don't have a major issue with the little yellow light, it would be good not to have to deal with it and have a solution

They're pricey - $120 the set, but that is cheaper than the Ford dealer. I'll update you Wednesday on how the installation goes tomorrow. Damn. It's like going to the hospital as an expectant father - they're going to operate on my Fuze tomorrow.

pcsgrp35se Report post Posted August 12, 2009 I hope they work. It would be great to update me on wednesday (today here in australia but tomorrow back in the states). If it works that would be fine and I would pick them up off ebay.
bartman1 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 I hope they work. It would be great to update me on wednesday (today here in australia but tomorrow back in the states). If it works that would be fine and I would pick them up off ebay. I had the tpms sensors I bought from ebay installed on Tuesday (8-11). They went in without a hitch and fit correctly on the Ford valve stems (which were included in the purchase). I was able to calibrate them with the Ford calibration tool (also available on ebay for about $12). Other than some scratches the installer put on my wheels (I should have taken them off the car myself) the tires and tpms are now installed and happy. Spectre Report post Posted September 15, 2009 Can anyone advise if the Mustang 17 X 8 Bullet wheel will fit on the 2010 Fusion SE I4? Mustang wheels offset is 45 mm. Bolt pattern 5-114. See photo. Those are the wheels I am going to run for my winter tires. I know they don't fit the design of the car the best, but I already have those wheels (had them on my Ranger). Even if I can't get the TPMS to work, I can live with a flat tire light for the winter.
Rodeo Report post Posted September 16, 2009 I'm sooooo freakin' confused now. Seriously..... What wheels will work etc? mikendawn Report post Posted April 23, 2010 hey Guys, I actually work for a Ford Dealership. For those of you that are getting new rims for your car, why don't you just transfer your TPMS to the new rims? They are just Tire Valve style TPMS. TPMS-12 is the part number that is required for the Fusion, it's also the same sensor used on many of the new 2010 models, from the Escape, to the Edge, and the Lincoln MKX, Taurus, Fusion, and Flex. If you get new rims, and want to leave your TPMS on your old rims, used for Winter (for those of you that have one) then just go to FORD and pick yourselves up a set of TPMS 12. Oh, in response to those that purchased from Tire Rack without a problem for thier TPMS sensor, Tire Rack would have purchased those TPMS sensors from a Ford Dealership that they deal with. Cheers! Mercury Milan Report post Posted April 23, 2010 just go to FORD and pick yourselves up a set of TPMS 12. It says they're 71.00. Is that 71.00 each or 71.00 for 4?
bbf2530 Report post Posted April 23, 2010 (edited) Hi guys. :D Just an FYI to avoid confusion/problems for some: 2008-2009 Fusion/Milan/MKZ's use a "band-type" TPMS sensor, not the "valve-type" used in the 2010 models. And the two types of sensors are not interchangeable. In other words, if you try to use a "valve-type" TPMS sensor on a 2008-2009 model, the TPMS system will not function properly. And if you try to use a "band-type" sensor on the 2010 model, the TPMS system will not function properly. Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug: Edited April 23, 2010 by bbf2530
