Very strange “triple vibration”

Recommended Posts

Basics:

2019 Hybrid

60k miles

New tires have about 4k miles.

Issue happens at any speed while accel, steady speed, or deccel.

This just started happening.

I get a very short and minor vibration -like running over small tight rumble strips- in an exact pattern of three.  “Vibration-smooth-Vib-smooth-Vib- smooth again” w maybe a quarter of a second for each vibration and space between.

It happens roughly 6-8 times over the course of an hour driving on surface streets and highway.   It feels like it is coming from the front on both sides but could be anywhere.

There is no noticeable sound, and I can feel it through the steering wheel the most, but haven’t had the issue long enough to notice if the whole car shakes.

Again, it is the exact same pattern every time and no particular parameters for it happening.

What on Earth could this be?!!

(I have a beginners understanding of vehicles.. can change oil, plugs, shocks, brake pads, hoses, etc but no real knowledge of the inner workings)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I just looked up “lane keeping…” and it sure sounds like that’s what it is.  It gets more aggressive at higher speed which makes sense.  I think I’ll turn it off and see what happens.

thanks for the advice!
