Enetzer Report post Posted October 13, 2023 (edited) Basics: 2019 Hybrid 60k miles New tires have about 4k miles. Issue happens at any speed while accel, steady speed, or deccel. This just started happening. I get a very short and minor vibration -like running over small tight rumble strips- in an exact pattern of three. “Vibration-smooth-Vib-smooth-Vib- smooth again” w maybe a quarter of a second for each vibration and space between. It happens roughly 6-8 times over the course of an hour driving on surface streets and highway. It feels like it is coming from the front on both sides but could be anywhere. There is no noticeable sound, and I can feel it through the steering wheel the most, but haven’t had the issue long enough to notice if the whole car shakes. Again, it is the exact same pattern every time and no particular parameters for it happening. What on Earth could this be?!! (I have a beginners understanding of vehicles.. can change oil, plugs, shocks, brake pads, hoses, etc but no real knowledge of the inner workings) Any advice is greatly appreciated. billford Report post Posted October 15, 2023 Sounds like the lane keeping system is activating. Does it happen when your driving over one of the road lines, like changing lanes at highway speeds?
Enetzer Report post Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) I just looked up “lane keeping…” and it sure sounds like that’s what it is. It gets more aggressive at higher speed which makes sense. I think I’ll turn it off and see what happens. thanks for the advice! Cobra348 Report post Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) Lane keeping could have been accidentally activated if the button on the end of the turn signal stalk was pressed (this is a toggle - press again to shut it off). You can tell if it is active in the left screen by a top-view car outline with vertical lines to left or right. They'll be green if it is on and you are within your lane properly (as determined by the car). According to my brother who tested it out on his '18 FFH, it does vibrate ... but he stated that using turn signal when changing lanes prevents the vibration. I've toggled it on and off but do not use it. Edited October 16, 2023 by Cobra348
