fordcarfan Report post Posted August 7, 2008 Hi. I am looking to install a new head unit and subwoofer in my Fusion. However, I am not sure as to how to remove the head unit. Does the front bezel just snap off and then I just unscrew it? Also, I am installing a sub as well. I don't know how to get the wires from the head unit to the trunk though. I think it is probably routed along the bottom of the car near the rocker panel, but how would I get the plastic off to route it underneath? Thank you! Hi fordcarfan. :D The bezel around the radio is held on by spring tension clips. Carefully pull it out, starting at the bottom of that particular panel. Once you have removed the bezel, you will see the fasteners holding the radio. Remove them, and viola! Same basic story with the door sill strips. They are held in with clips. Carefully pry them up. Good luck. :beerchug:
fordcarfan Report post Posted August 8, 2008 Thanks for the quick reply bbf2530 :) I was searching about this online again today and it seems like that it the plastic door sill is clipped in and they can be a real pain to get out. I hope don't break anything. I will definitely take your advice and try to do it as carefully as possible ;) Any additional tips for the removal of the sills? Just use a normal flat head screwdriver maybe?

When I have to use a metal screwdriver to pry up plastic panels, sills, etc., I put a layer or two of masking or electrical tape on the blade and up the shaft of th screwdriver. Helps to avoid scratching the plastic. Good luck. :beerchug:
fordcarfan Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Hi again bbf2530! I just bought a tool similar to this one from my local auto store http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=683. I am hoping it will do the job. I think I will take your advice though even though it isn't a screwdriver and add some electrical tape to it to be safe. Thank you again :)
