2019 no battery indicator

Recommended Posts

I don't see this option in my car, nor the battery icon.

For someone who's an MPG nerd, it's important information omitted!

I'm more interested in seeing battery levels after some highway driving, as well as when driving in the city.

Does the battery icon ever go emptier when coasting on the electric motor (until the ICE kicks in)?

There is a llllooooonnnnnggggg discussion in another thread on this.  Essentially, FFH for '19 and '20 do not have the SOC (State Of Charge) display.  Energi does and MAYBE Titanium trim of the FFH.

I also miss having the SOC info displayed. I was wondering if that information is available through the OBD2 data. Has anyone published the live data available? If SOC is included, I could wire up a little Arduino controller with a dedicated LCD to show status.

Makes sense.

The hybrid would always show 50% charge.

The battery charge used for electric driving is only a few percent of the total battery capacity. Unlike the energi, which has a much larger percentage of the battery cells dedicated to electric driving.

I'm not clear what you mean. My 2015 FFH shows an icon for state of charge and it varies a lot from 50%.

'19 and '20 models do not have the SOC.  I also agree with you that it varies widely from 50%.  I saw it drop as low as about 25% and had it topped off ... on both my '15 and the '17 ... many times.

I see mine go lower than 25% and also up to 100% (long downhill). Lots of hills here.

I tried not to let mine get too low, but long downhills certainly made for a fast charge-up!  There is one hill here that if I do it right in cruise, I can top off the battery from 50% (if I had an SOC to verify it).

The 1.4kW battery has at least 400 Watts reserve, to start the engine, and to charge the 12V battery off of.
Only ~1kW is for actual driving.
The energi has like ~7kW for driving, and the 2019 models and up ~8.5kW.

You can see some sort of battery charge, in the empower window on a 2019 hybrid model.

I just wished they would fuse the empower and engage displays, as engage is better to show engine and motor power output, and the other is better to see the SOC and to keep the throttle in the right position to run the car at that point where the motor will either engage or disengage.
