FUSION665TANK Report post Posted September 19, 2019 Bought season tickets to great America in Gurnee Illinois. Made 13 trips and all thirteen trips GPS has went out showing red circle with line through GPS in bottom left corner. Basically arrow showing car location just floats across screen with a grid. Remains like this even after returning back home in Indiana. Turn car off wait 5 minutes and GPS will become responsive and start working. I had it do it once around South Bend IN. area. Did factory reset and never did it again since in Indiana. But every time along I94 just on the outskirts of Chicago. Took car to Pine Ford in La Porte Indiana. They didn't find any error codes tested APIM but nothing showed up defective or wrong. They said they turned off automatic updates and said nothing was wrong. I am calling BS. They know it is going out but know I am 3000 miles away from warranty running out at 125,000 miles
FUSION665TANK Report post Posted September 20, 2019 No thoughts on how a dealership with videos says it is ok. Nothing wrong?
FUSION665TANK Report post Posted September 20, 2019 (edited) WTH? Am I understanding this right? It the lack of updated maps and Ford support for updated software?. If this is the case... Why isn't anyone informing the owners of OEM Navigation support or the lack there of software updates. Can anyone verify if this is a valid Navigation system map update? https://why-update-ford.azurewebsites.net/ Puzzled ? Really... Why the hush hush on sync 3 map updates and having to pay for them if it is possible? Just found this as well. https://ford.navigation.com/home/en_US/FordNA/USD?utm_campaign=Navteq-Partnership&utm_medium=oemreferral&ProgramUUID=YIgKCghBOhcAAAFHefQZ9oZe&utm_source=Ford-Owners Edited September 20, 2019 by FUSION665TANK

Cobra348 Report post Posted September 20, 2019 (edited) Let's see ... OP 2 days ago; 1 post 1 day ago; 2 posts today .... you don't give ANYONE a chance to even scan and perhaps respond, do you? I just got my first nav yesterday (20 SEL) so I'll watch for it but thats as far as I can go. You need to learn patience when dealing with forums. Not all of us can haunt the place all damned day. Timewellspent Report post Posted September 20, 2019 I don't have Sync 3 so can't help, but I don't even understand what your question is. I have updated my maps, but the unit would still work fine without updating. I have never had an issue where the GPS wouldn't display at all. Sorry, I can't help, hopefully someone else will point you in the right direction.
billford Report post Posted September 21, 2019 (edited) When the car's gps cuts out, try the gps on your phone and see if it works to rule out a signal problem. Is sync updated to the latest level? Buy the extended Esp warranty. Edited September 21, 2019 by billford
FUSION665TANK Report post Posted September 24, 2019 Yep.... Patience lol Disabling automatic updates. That'll fix it!Might I ask... Who's pressuring you to even answer? I can understand someone pushing for answers time isn't a luxury but You getting offended for their situation not so much.
Cobra348 Report post Posted September 24, 2019 My response was more to get you to reallize that while it's frustrating as hell, dropping more than the original call for help isn't gonna serve any good. I knew *I* couldn't help because I just got my first nav unit and am learning. <shrug> Want frustration and disappointment? Read this. You might actually want to keep your '17. Waldo Report post Posted September 25, 2019 What information are you looking for exactly? You're suggesting that your dealership is somehow trying to scam you because they are unable to diagnose an unusual very specific issue that only happens in a place far away from where they are. I think you're giving them too much credit, they just don't know what to do. I've personally driven a few different Sync 3 equipped vehicles (not Fusions though) through the I94 section from Michigan to downtown Chicago and not had any trouble with the GPS. The Sync 3 map updates just became available for the first time a couple weeks ago after several years of nothing being available. Not really Hush-hush, just no info has ever been available until very recently. But as mentioned, that's not going to make any difference in your issue. I-94 hasn't moved.
