Audio oddity

Recommended Posts

Last Wednesday (Apr 3rd) Sirius started acting up. When I started the car, whatever station it was set to displayed the "now playing" info (artist, title). BUT if I changed stations OR the preset channel, this information became blank. Even if I went back to the original station, it was blank. At best maybe the artist would show. So I put up with it until yesterday and started trying to figure out what was wrong.

Was it ...

Software/Firmware

1. Sync? Nope, not that I could detect.

1a. Sirius updates at all? No, none in at least a couple weeks.

Phone/Charger

2. 12V socket/phone charger interference somehow? Nope - display still screwed up.

2a. USB charger interference? Nope - display still screwed up.

Other Audio

3. Try AM, FM bands. Fine audio and display.

3a. MP3 player in the USB slot. Works fine.

3b. Pandora performance. Just fine with no issues at all.

Soooo, what now? Then I noticed something. One of the station buttons on the screen had no identifier like "50s", "60s" etc. I know it had something as the SIrius default but I had never ever used that button on that preset. Hmmm. So I picked a station I knew and set that button to it.

Guess what? All the "now playing" information displays correctly! Every button, every preset.

Now, this begs these questions ...

What in Hades made that button go blank?

Have you ever had this happen to you?

Thanks!
