usererror Report post Posted August 15, 2017 Is anyone able to pin point the changes in the head light designs to model years? Here's what I've observed in my daily driving: 1. My 2015 FFH has no special LED "halos" or "angel eyes" or "LED Strips"2. Some Fusions have an "LED Strip" that goes along the bottom of the headlamp assembly.3. Some Fusions have an "LED Strip" that goes along the Top of the headlight assembly. Are these from the factory or are people adding these as aftermarket? If from the factory, which years have which design? 2017 vs 2017? I do like the changes. I wonder if they would be a direct swap out or if they also changed something under the hood or on the front bumper cover?
DeeCee Report post Posted August 16, 2017 When I had my 2013 FFH I added my own LED strip below the headlight. I found some edge LED strips at Walmart that worked just fine and fit easily in the gap below the headlight cover.
Vlad Soare Report post Posted August 17, 2017 They're aftermarket.OEM headlights with an LED band are only available in Europe, as far as I know. On the Mondeo, that is. I wonder if you could adapt Mondeo headlights to the Fusion. I guess they should fit, but they might need some changes to the wiring, and possibly reprogramming of some modules, or even replacing them altogether. Cobra348 Report post Posted August 18, 2017 (edited) my '17 has LED strip over the top if the headlights - OEM (ref: OP bullet #2). They look like an eyebrow with a hashmark on the grille end. When turn signals are used, the horizontal part turns amber and the hashmark is not lit. I have seen Fusions with the under-light strips and they had all black filler panels shaped like the '17 models. However they were going in the opposite direction so I couldn't stop them and look. Mister MMT Report post Posted August 18, 2017 (edited) The Mondeos LED headlights are also adaptive, much like "matrix" ones. To my knowledge, these are not legal in the USA. If that were true, I can tell you, you're missing something terrific! These headlights are so potent and yet non-blinding, and in addition directional. They follow curves and bend into side streets. This is for hte 2015 model. The design was modified for the 2017 one. Jan Edited August 18, 2017 by Mister MMT
djminfll Report post Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) On the 2017 models, the LED strip that goes along the bottom of the headlamp assembly is standard on the SE models. The ones that cover the tops of the headlamps and change to amber when turn signals are activated are standard on the Titanium and Platinum trims. The taillights also differ between trim levels. The S and SE have "Level 1", meaning they only light up on the potion outside of the trunk area. The Titanium and Platinum trims light all the way inside the trunk as well. If your vehicle is from prior to 2017, there are DRLs, but they have to be activated by Ford service (or another mechanic, I guess). Ordered from the factory and I took whatever I got. Option packages are in my sigline - nothing special. I can't see Ford using two different headlight setups. I should also note the LED strips are my DRL. When headlight switch is in AUTO position, they are lit when in gear. I know this for a fact as I see them reflected in the backend of whatever vehicle is in front of me. ADDED: Source - Ford.com Build & Price for FFH. S does not have LED lighting (LED signature lighting) at all. SE will have Level 3 taillights, LED signature lighting, LED headlamps and more with the 602A option package. That's why I have the eyebrow LEDs. The 601A package also has the LED eyebrows but not the level 3 taillights or the spiffy LED headlights, etc. Sport and Platinum have the eyebrow LEDs standard. This I saw and checked on a dealer lot in Clay, NY. NOTE: If you have doubts, go to Ford and into the Build & Price pages. Pull up the features of any of the option packages for the model/trim you want and look for "LED signature linghting" in the External Features list. If there, then the LED lights are included. usererror Report post Posted August 24, 2017 Thanks for all the feedback! Great info. My 2015 has DRLs that I can activate or deactivate from the options on the left side menu. I just love those new LED lines on the 2017 model. Thanks for explaining which models have which!! Now the next curiosity is, are they the headlight assemblies a direct swap? I wonder if any wiring or programming would be different?
