grimm10 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Greetings. I have a 2008 Ford Fusion SEL with the upgraded audio navigation package. The car was purchased in New York and I have now shipped the car to Germany (Im stationed there). My question is this, how can I make my navigation system work in Europe? Is there anywhere I can get the DVD? What is the make and model of the radio/navigation system? :banghead:
FusionFanatic Report post Posted February 6, 2008 the North American nav units are made by Pioneer (don't know the exact model#) I think the European nav units are made by Denso. contact Ford to see if they offer a European DVD for the American navigation (Pioneer) system, or contact Pioneer to see if a European DVD for one of their aftermarket models might work with it? good luck :)

Both are saying nope to European Maps. I have a computer savy friend looking to see if he can get a map disk for another car that uses Navtaq software to work with the Fusion's system. I post if any luck.

bbf2530 Report post Posted October 11, 2008 Me too! I just shipped my Fusion 2007 SEL with Factory Nav to Mexico and the Navigation wont work... Need to update Nav to work in Mexico, but not sure how to do that... Hi gutavuks. :D The Navigation System essentially needs two things to work properly (besides hardware), a satellite signal that tells your car where it is on the planet at the moment, and a DVD which correlates that satellite signal to a road map of the area you are in and shows it on the Navigation System screen. So other than a defective Navigation system, that leaves two possibilities: 1 - Where you are in Mexico does not get satellite coverage. If that is the case, there is nothing you can do about it.2 - If you are getting a satellite signal, you need a new Navteq DVD that contains navigation maps of Mexico (if it is available). For that, you would need to contact Ford or Navteq. You will likely have better luck contacting Navteq (again, if DVD's of Mexico's roads are available). Good luck. :beerchug:
Mutnat Report post Posted October 23, 2008 On a semi-related topic, does anyone know if 6P is still the most recent nav DVD or if there's a newer edition? 6P came with my Fuzh, built in March 2008.

Hi Mutnat. :D I know there are those owners who already have 7P. And from the Navteq website (Navteq.com), the latest version listed is: Ford / Lincoln / Mercury - North America Map DVD Version 7P * Release Date May 2008 * Catalog # U0016-0075-804 Hope this information helps. Good luck. :beerchug:
FusionFanatic Report post Posted October 28, 2008 navteq sells the 7P DVD for $149 there is currently one 7P DVD listed on eBay. bidding starts at $26 (with reserve) and it has a BIN price of $115 (with free shipping). I don't now what dealers charge for them, but it's probably more than either of the above options charge. good luck :)
Mutnat Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Thanks for the info guys--as always you both rock! :) You know, for the price of the factory Nav upgrade, you'd think they'd give you 3 or 4 freebie update discs (if not 3 or 4 years worth!). Oh well... I checked the list of new and updated areas on the navteq site and none were anywhere near where I go, so maybe I'll sit 7P out and check out the next one.
