Exclusive Features of a Fusion Platinum?

I am trying to make a deal on a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Platinum. As we know the "Platinum" trim is new to 2017. I got a real good price on one yesterday but I don't like the sales people.

So.. when I saw a new 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid with the hard to find "Ruby Red" paint job on the web today, I instantly put a vocal bid on it (250 miles away).
What a low price they gave me!!

Two hours later into the deal I realized I was bidding on a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium (not a Platinum). Ouch.

The Titanium I am bidding has the packages shown in the image (please click on thumbnail below).

It meets my needs (All I really want is ALL of the amazing Safety features of the Platinum)

So what features are exclusive to a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Platinum? (What do I forfeit?)

 

I will build this list as I can, but please chip in. Tomorrow is "deal day" for me. Doing my homework..

• LED Signature Lighting
• 18 inch Premium Painted Dark Stainless Wheels
• Lots of extra "premium" leather (on dashboard for example)
• Power Tilt and Telescoping Steering Wheel?

The Platinum just makes all the options of the Titanium standard and adds some cosmetic touches including the leather inside. Titanium already has the LED headlights but the power tilt wheel is basically the only thing you can't get on the Titanium.

I just saw this posting, I know it's probably too late, I assume you've made your decision.

The biggest differences between the Titanium and the Platinum are the quilted leather seats, and the leather wrapped dashboard in the Platinum, both of which are not optional on the Titanium.

There isn't much difference in the price between the two, so you should look at both and get the one you like better.

I got a Platinum. If you want ALL the safety "driver assist" features you will NEVER find a FFH Titanium on a lot with all of them. The cost is right up there anyway.

I'll tell you what one of my favorite things is - the new Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go ability. I drove in an hour of traffic yesterday on the freeway, and my feet never touched a pedal the entire time.

The dealer with the Ruby Red FFH Platinum wouldn't deal. They were in Chicago 200+ miles away. I used them as a pawn to secure the deal I had a local dealer 1 mile from work.

 

I did buy a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Platinum in Shadow Black on Monday.

Too chicken to do "stop and go" (yet). I just got comfortable with the Adaptive cruise (amazing). I took my kids out to Star Wars tonight (11 year old fell asleep right at 945pm). I didn't know I had a heated steering wheel until my 14 year old pointed it out (and started playing that dang kids music whatchamacallit)

Here's a thread I started with some remarks about the features of the '17 models. This is on SE trim and compares to '15 Titanium in spots ... but it may help.

 

Stop & go works well ... but have the foot hovering just in case. Set distance for at least 2 seconds. If traffic is ALREADY stopped, it will not work and that is the way it's set. Heated wheel setting was (for me) in an unexpected place but it does make sense I suppose.

 

One last thing ... if this is your first hybrid take a bit of time with the manual and the car running to see where everything is, work the buttons/settings and learn stuff. It's worth the time.

Stop & go works well ... but have the foot hovering just in case. Set distance for at least 2 seconds. If traffic is ALREADY stopped, it will not work and that is the way it's set.

Regarding the "Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go" feature..

 

You said set the "distance" for "2 seconds"..

 

Is each bar (up to four) corresponding to 1 second? So "two bars" = "two seconds behind car in front"?

I didn't see that in the demo video.

So to use Stop and Go I let the car slow down to zero while in adaptive cruise and let it do its thing. Once I interfere the Stop and Go session is released?

Each of those bars is approximately 1 second following distance. I usually run 2 bars but crank it up to 3 or 4 on highways at 55 or better. The stop/go feature is new for '17 so vids may not have it all.

100% correct. Applying the brake with your foot deactivates cruise (as normal). If you look at the setting then you will see your preset speed with a line thru it - overridden. As used to the stop/go as I am, I still have my foot ready, so consider that.

 

If you do allow the car to completely halt by itself, be advised that it will not start rolling until the vehicle ahead is at least the follow distance away so you may need to nudge the gas a bit. The car will then attempt to reach the preset speed once again. And to answer the unasked question ... yes, the tallights do come on. <chuckle> I have seen them reflected in the grille of the car behind me.

Here is video shot by a guy in the Bay Area in horrible stop and go traffic using his ACC with Stop and Go. Unfortunately, the tail lights didn't help. He later posted (then deleted) a photo of his beautiful 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Platinum after being rear-ended by a drunk driver. Ugghh...

Unrelated. Notice he is using the Waze navigation app instead of SYNC3. Waze doesn't have the fancy graphics, but the traffic data, provided by other Waze users in the area, is very accurate. You can see an accident within 2 minutes of it being reported (and then you are re-routed). Time to destination is uncanny. Photos and text can be added to a marked accident. Users also mark police cars.

Using stop/go in stop and go traffic is not always good but it looked like he was doing nicely. Where I live there is ample opportunity to use it to some effect but it's negated by drivers cutting in and other factors.

 

Only one place within the city limits can I use it to any decent return and that's actually a nice downhill where I set the speed to limit 30 MPH and allow the ACC to regen the battery as it keeps me from going too fast. Stop light at the bottom, I always use my foot on the brake. Once out of the main city areas I can use ACC at 40 and above very nicely.

I have been using adaptive cruise with stop and go for a week now. It is fantastic. The stop and go is AMAZING.

Just like automatic parking it takes a leap of faith -- but it does work.

You do have to remember to actually drive the car when you get off the highway.

 

When my 12 year old reaches 16 the totally autonomous 2021 Fusion will be out..
