ekeman Report post Posted February 28, 2016 New owner of a 2016 Fusion Hybrid, really like the car, only issue I am having is with the SD Card (MPG, 4k songs) always starts to index when I start the car, and never completes indexing unless I remove the card then reinsert it. Once I do that, index cometes within 10 seconds, it builds commands, and everything is good until the next time I start the car. I've tried performing a Sync reset several times, but nothing changes. Is this something I need to learn to live with, anyone have any ideas/experience with correcting this issue? Too bad that for a car which is very technically advanced in terms of the Hybrid drivetrain, Adaptive Cruise Contro, etc. has a buggy entertainment system. Thanks! Thanks!I assume that you don't have navigation because the SD card slot is where the map is stored. Two things to try. Use a USB stick instead of SD and put fewer songs on the device. I have around 500 on my USB stick and I've not seen your problem.
machoman1337 Report post Posted February 29, 2016 Yeah, from my experience USB has been pretty reliable. I keep an ancient iPod Touch in the center box plugged into one of my USB ports and it never needs to re-index when I start the car.
ekeman Report post Posted February 29, 2016 Thanks for the responses, I'll try a USB stick and fewer files to see if that helps. REALLY like the car, live in NJ, had a 60 degree today, made a 60 mile trip with combination city/highway and hit 50 MPG, while going as high as 70 on the highway. Handles great, very quiet, traded in a VW Passat diesel for the FFH, no regrets (other than the drama VW has put its diesel customers through).
jeffo65 Report post Posted February 29, 2016 I use the USB for my music. I have 8,000 songs on my thumb drive and have no indexing issues.
FordIVTteam Report post Posted February 29, 2016 Hey ekeman, I agree with the others on trying a USB flash drive to see if the same thing happens; however, this sounds more like an SD card issue. If you don't have a spare flash drive, try another SD card. Keep me posted! Rebecca
ekeman Report post Posted March 1, 2016 Thanks all for the advice. I've loaded a new SD Card tonight, will try it on the morning commute tomorrow, if that doesn't work I'll try a USB Drive later this week, will provide an update once I have some results. ekeman Report post Posted March 4, 2016 Update, I loaded a 64gb USB drive and a new 64gb SDI Card with identical music files (about 3,500 files). The USB drive quickly indexed and has been working w/o any issues for the past couple of days w/o issue. The SD Card did not complete indexing until I withdrew it and reinserted it, then required to be indexed again after the car was turned off for a couple of hours. Hmmm, glad the USB drive works, but am curious why the SD Card isn't working quite right. I'm going try to performing a full format on the SD Card, the giving it another shot. Having the USB drive work solves my problem, but would like to keep the USB port empty for charging phones. Thanks to all for your advice.
