2017 FFH Photos from Ford

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure these photos from the build-and-price at ford.com are showing the White Gold color darker than it really looks. The build-and-price coloring on the Fusions has historically not been very accurate at all.

I have seen some shots of the White Gold that make it look very close to the previous Tectonic color.

So until you actually see these colors on the dealer's lots, it is anyone's guess what they will actually look like in comparison.

Looking at the 2 SE pics, it appears the Technology Package changes the road lights from the Vignale-like units to the funky ones in the other threads. Dunno if I'm liking that as I think the more parallelogramish units look better.

Platinum ... OMG, what a chrome masterpiece that grille is! NOT! <shudder> Sorry, I don't even like the bars we have now so that is not something I like at all.

EDIT: Just tried a build to see what Titanium options were like. First it appears Deep Impact Blue has been replaced and the new blue is pretty nice. Second, the Terracotta Leather optional interior package is not currently available. Did not see optional heated steering wheel either. I'm thinking THAT is an omission as options have yet to be determined in all the models.

EDIT #2: Heated steering is buried in the Driver Assist package which includes rain-sensing wipers and other stuff. My initial question is "why?" how does this assist the driver like park assist, the wipers, BLIS, etc?

Has anyone else noticed that you can only have heated OR cooled seats?

Probably a wording error on the site. This would be incredibly retarded as the demand for heated seats is much much higher than the demand for cooled seats. Do both or nothing. I believe the 2013-2016 Titaniums offered "heated and cooled" front seats and that's gonna carry over.

You're correct on the combined ability as an option. I have heated and cooled front seats on my FFH. I'm really hoping the B&P pages for Fusions are incomplete

I'd be interested to know if there are any changes to the powertrain...

I don't believe there are any major differences for the FFH. The 2017 web pages say the same old "hybrid 2.0L I-4 Atkinson-cycle powertrain".

The major news for Fusion powertrains is the twin-turbo V6 (2.7L), which will now be available in the "gas" Fusion Sport.

However, gizmag.com did make this comment below about the 2017 FFH and FFE:

New electric motors will replace the current motors used in the hybrids, which should improve all-electric range and fuel economy in both electrified Fusion models.

And Ford does say this below in their press release:

New software in both hybrids delivers an even more refined and engaging drive for customers, while more efficient electric motors are expected to contribute to better fuel economy and a purer range of electric driving

Now what is this "purer range" they speak of? :kookie:

Sound like marketing speak! Like trying to imply, but not making any promises. I wonder what the EPA estimates will be for MPG...

Some of the new colors look nice but beware of tricolor coats like pearl. They are a pain to get a color match on and getting the touch up paints for it. I had a heck of a time getting the right match on my one off (only 2014) Sunset just for a touchup paint. Had to get the paint scanned at two different places with a photospectrometer and it is still not right on the money because of the quantities that make up touch up cannot calculate for the trace amounts of color added to the larger batches. Save yourself some headache and do not get a tricolor.

Some pearl paints also require different mixes of drying agent, etc. My local body shop fell afoul of that when the Pittsburgh Paint rep didn't tell them of it a couple years back. They had to repaint several Ruby Red vehicles because of the orange peel and lifting. However, a good shop should be able to get the color right - especially if you have the paint code ... it's on the tag on the drivers door jamb.
