I need to make mine since I barely make it up my driveway. If you have any help or suggestions feel free to help me out. I will post picks of it in the morning as its dark here now! A Nascar race car has a spoiler on the back which provides significant down force at high speed. But just sitting at curb weight, the spring is already quite collapsed, you don't need downforce, just the weight of the car. But raising the car by any means has consequences. The suspension geometry is carefully tuned to the exact ride height, raising or lowering will change the bumpsteer and camber curves, resulting in less than ideal handling. The slight rise in center of gravity won't help either, plus things like spring rubbers will increase the spring rate, which will make the ride worse. And of course the main reason the car is so low in the first place is for fuel economy. Although it's advertised as a 'lowering' kit, air springs do allow you to tailor the ride height to your preference, including 'hitching up the pants' when you need to go over a dip. It's a bit spendy if you go 'all in', but it's a way to have the ride height that can be tailored to road conditions. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I lowered my 92 Miata about 1.5 inches and had the R-type front lip. I would still occasionally scrape if I didn't give the turn in some thought, but otherwise it was fine, and I had a pretty steep driveway. Backing in is also an option, and in fact stupidly easy with the rearview camera option. If there's a concrete stopper in front of the parking space, that more or less guarantees I'm gonna back in, otherwise the stopper could damage my front bumper. Since the rear bumper is quite a bit higher, that makes for some great peace of mind.
