3 Year Ownership Reports - 2013 FFH

This report can be virtually the same as my 2nd year. The only thing I've done over the past 12 months is an oil change. I'm still on the original tires at 33+K miles and they look like they should last many more miles. I've averaged 44 mpg for the past year.

The 2016 has most of the items that I wish I had on my 2013 SE: a fully adjustable passenger seat and a light colored interior option for the Titanium trim. My only real complaints are hitting my head on the trunk and, as has been mentioned recently, the dragging of the front end when entering and exiting some driveways. This second issue is very minor to me, since I feel it is a sacrifice for the good looks of the car.

I do wish I had some control over the charging and discharging of the HVB. I frequently go up a long, steep grade and I would like to start the climb with a full charge on the battery. I've never gotten it above 2/3 charge before the steep part starts. The opposite applies for coming down that grade. I would like the HVB to be at minimum charge when I start the descent. I've been able to do this with careful speed control before going down the grade, but it seems this could be done automatically by the FFH's computer using GPS elevation data.

We also have a C-max Energi. The Energi lets you choose to run electric only (as long as you have a charge), Ice, or hybrid modes. I find myself reaching for that button while driving the Fusion, so I completely get this.

The 13 has had a few problems including a failure of the FCIM, but it's going strong. They're both coming to visit today, so I'll post a "fusion family" pic for fun!

About the same mileage and experience here, but in a 2014 SE that will turn 2 years old at the end of the month (with about 36k miles). White exterior with Dune interior. Original tires as well and no repairs. 44mpg average. Best car we've ever owned!

I have owned my car for just over 1.5 years but it is now over 3 years old (I bought a preowned demonstrator unit). I bought an ESP to extend the warranty by an extra 4 years (or up to 100,000 km whichever comes first).

 

I'm at 22,000 kilometres and have no mechanical issues. The car has never failed to start, there aren't any interior rattles, and the brakes have not made any ominous cracking sounds (the latter two problems seemed to be common among Job 1 2013 models). The ride quality is excellent.

 

I have visited the dealer more times than I would like (two regular service appointments plus fixes for a leaky fuel valve, a peeling sunglasses holder, a GPS recalibration, a left turn signal recalibration, the main stereo power button, and some recalls with 15S16 still pending) but at least it's not to fix anything that could present a danger on the roads or leave the car undrivable if left unchecked.

 

Right now my left windshield wiper has become excruciatingly squeaky which will mean another dealer visit that I can hopefully combine with 15S16.

 

Still love the car though!

The 2013 SE Ice Storm in the middle is my first FFH that one daughter took over. The Silver one is my other daughter's 2015 SE, and I now drive the 2015 titanium closest to the camera.

@B25Nut - I can agree with the front end scraping. The entry to my drive is tricky and needs just the right touch or I hear that dreaded sound. I'm not too concerned over the HVB cycles and have managed to time things pretty well to insure good charge when needed.

 

I'm approaching 19.5K after 7 months owning my FFH (high-mileage use!! :)) with a lifetime of 45.2 (down from 45.7) by computer. Gas receipts are 43.8 combined as of the 17th. Best tank was 48.73 - twice. With Winter setting in, ICE is on more and the winter tread also makes for more friction, so I expect more drop in MPG over the seasons course. It'll be interesting to see how the beast handles in the snow - as compared to a Fiesta. <chuckle>

 

@kbailey990 - damn fine stable of FFHs! I got the Terracotta interior and it's actually a pretty sharp combination.

My three year ownership was two days ago. Total 51,686 miles in that time. Cars lifetime computer displays 48.0 mpg with 27,653.8 EV miles, 1801.9 Regen miles and a 95% brake score. I have kept my own fuel used log since getting the car and it computes an actual 45.8 MPG. Best tank was 57.4 mpg and lowest was 36.1 mpg. Car is a job 1 and has been trouble free. Only visits to service department were for oil changes, tire rotations and and recalls. I have been quite satisfied with this vehicle and it has exceeded my expectations. I don't go to any extremes to try and get max mpg and the majority of my driving is with ACC engaged and I just let the car's computer do the "driving".

Haven't yet hit 30k miles. Have not had any major issues. The only time I had to get anything mechanically fixed was a defect with a squeaky wiper joint on the driver side, and they just had to loosen it.

 

In Washington the average mileage peaked at about 40MPG. In Colorado I'm estimating roughly 43MPG.

 

Drove it from Washington to Colorado over a weekend, really bad weather half the drive. Took it like a champion.

 

Had it detailed after some minor body work, and sitting in the car again was like the day I drove it off the lot. It's held up extremely well.

 

The only thing I currently don't like about the car is the MyFord Touch system. It's slow, it's annoying, it auto plays music from my phone (which drives me nuts), It forgets my ambient light setting, it forgets my 911-Assist setting, and it will often fail to upload reports.

This one can be resolved by choosing a non-BT audio source before turning off the car (so when it turns back on, it won't play off the phone). Or if you use Android, you can disable the music playback ability over Bluetooth (dunno about other platforms). But overall I agree, MFT is crappy.

I'm two months late with my three-year report, but really nothing new to report at three years + two months and 45,000 miles. Except the overall displayed mpg has increased from 45.4 to 45.8 over the past year, maybe because I increased tire pressure to 42 after too-early tire replacement early in 2017. Still mostly suburban driving with lots of hills, some 70 mph freeway, three 1200-mile trips including hours of 75 mph driving. No problems at all.

 

As I said in my two-year report, I drive it like I want to drive it, with the only concession made toward getting good gas mileage being easy on the braking so regen braking is used as much as possible. For constant-speed driving, I use "straight" cruise control, not any other more fuel-efficient type because I like the positive action and very constant speed control up and down hills.
