New owner

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone just bought a 2010 FFH. This is my first hybrid and I am happy as can be with it. So is my wallet. I bought it used from a Ford dealership it only has 38,000 miles on it and it is loaded. Is there anything that I should be aware of or should be doing to keep up maintenance on my new car? Thanks

Welcome. We're getting a few new used FFH owners now. Read all the manuals cover to cover twice and while parked, push all the buttons. There were a few important software updates in the early years. Check with the Ford dealer you bought it from to ensure they were done. They were:

TSB 09-13-9 Speedometer inoperative

TSB 10-15-5 12 v battery resets

Customer Satisfaction

10-B-13 Computer brake failures ( important ! )

PCM 10-17-11

TSB 11-7-31

They may not all apply to your VIN. If they were done, Ford will have a record of them. They are all short software updates for which there were no charges.

Follow the maintenance guidelines and don't do anything extra unless the car tells you there's a problem. Have fun.

Glad to hear that. I love it so far ford really has come a long way. I kinda wrote them off from the 80s and 90s. But Ford has really stepped up its game. I find myself trying to get the best gas mileage. Today I hit 40mpg

As the weather gets colder, your mpg will decrease. Don't worry about it. It happens to all cars particularly hybrids.

I'm enjoying the heck out of mine - 4-1/2 months into ownership. I have found that the car computed MPG and that from pump receipts can be somewhat different. I would suggest using the gas receipts to figure MPG for accuracy - and to see how well the computer is compared to that. Unlike my Fiesta, the FFH variance is surprisingly small (like < 1.5 MPG usually).
