hybridbear Report post Posted May 10, 2015 How can you call 911 via voice commands? The other day I was driving through a rough part of the city and saw some ppl beginning to fight in the middle of the street and pretty soon ppl had pulled out guns. I tried to call 911 but nothing I said triggered Sync to dial 911. I tried saying "Call 911", "Dial 911", "Phone (pause) Dial 911" and nothing worked. I got away from that area as fast as I could and once I was safely away I got my phone out of my pocket to call. This seems like a major safety issue if you can't quickly dial 911 with voice commands. Does anyone know how to do it?
dysert Report post Posted May 10, 2015 I haven't tried it, but I would assume by saying "Dial (pause) 911 (pause) Dial" it would work.
SteveB_TX Report post Posted May 10, 2015 According to sync you should just have to say "Dial" (pause) "911". Hopefully you won't have to use it again. :)
hybridbear Report post Posted May 10, 2015 I tried that and it didn't understand me... That's what I thought too.
GrySql Report post Posted May 11, 2015 Did you have your OBDII scanner plugged in?*Aftermarket OBD-II wireless transceiver diagnostic devices may interfere with various vehicle systems including Vehicle Health Report and 911 Assist. To avoid interference, remove the device or contact the device maker for more information on compatibility.

FordIVTteam Report post Posted May 11, 2015 Hey everyone, Since SYNC is designed to dial 7 to 10-digit phone numbers, SYNC may have trouble understanding the command DIAL 911 because it will be listening for the rest of the digits to complete a phone number. If you dial the phone number manually from the cell phone, the call will still go through SYNC. Also, if you save the phone number for your local law enforcement in your phonebook under the name POLICE (or something similar), you can give the command CALL POLICE in the event of an emergency. Hopefully nobody else will find themselves in a position where they'll need to use my tips. That sounds like a scary situation, hybridbear! I'm glad you're safe. srogers Report post Posted May 12, 2015 I have never needed to dial 911 from my car but I call 511 for traffic information all the time. Just say "dial" and wait for the prompt and say "911" wait for the next prompt and say "dial".
