  1. I have a 2019 fusion platinum hybrid 40k miles. I was driving from Seattle to Arizona. My wife. Son and myself. All of us together is about 500lbs plus a full trunk The car would start making a harmonic sound that vibrated through the body going up steep inclines. I don't recall anything else happening. But the sound wow it was annoyingly loud. Anybody have a idea? Is this car toying with our lives?
  2. I have a 2013 Fusion Hybrid with about 35,000 miles. Recently I began to experience a rattle when going over bumps that sounded like it was coming from the back seat area--almost like the seat belt buckles were clicking against each other. I performed a fairly exhaustive check in the backseat area, including the best tensioners, etc. Nothing I did remedied the issue. I also had folks ride in the back while driving over noisy roads. They could all hear the noise, but couldn't pin-point it. Then, recently I took my vehicle through a car wash and the noise disappeared--at least for a few miles. Which got me thinking the noise must be from the exterior. I also noticed that during significant rain events, the noise would disappear for awhile. I spent some time (again) on the various forums and finally came across a post on the Fusion Energie forum that seems to be right on the mark. There is a rubber/plastic seal strip located at the bottom of the rear window, that seals the top of the trunk lid. The trunk lid moves around a bit as you drive over bumps, as you might imagine. That seal apparently becomes somewhat brittle with time and was causing the noise. I lubricated the seal and the noise has disappeared (at least for now--fingers crossed) The photograph below (courtesy of a posting on the Fusion Energie forum, shows the area. I hope this works for others; feel free to pass it along! Thom
  3. Hello guys. I have recently bought Ford Fusion 2014 hybrid SE. Yesterday I noticed that car has weird sound (like metal hitting metal) after breaking, at the moment when the car stops completely. And also, when I turn my wheel when car is stopped, sometimes screeching noise is coming from the front of the car. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks for your attention. I'm looking forward to your replies.
  4. I waited until the new Steering wheel bolt recall was completed to see if that was the problem and afraid not! I thought it was outside in left wheel well, but my wife's superior hearing located the noise inside at the steering wheel itself. My steering wheel started to squeak when turning right from a standing start about 2 months ago. I asked dealer to check it out then while in for other work and they CND (could not duplicate). I just had the steering wheel bolt RECALL done hoping that was the cause of the mystery squeak, no dice! It is now squeaking more than ever and when I turn either direction! Was going to WD40 that steering column but there is a big rubber boot over it. Anyone know how to remove that rubber boot?
  5. This morning when I started my car (2011 FFH) it went straight to ICE mode (no EV) and immediately started making an annoying buzzing sound from the dash which lasted a good 5 minutes while driving to work. This is the first time I've experienced this sound but I've only owned the car since August. Has anyone else experienced this? What could this sound be? It was 29 degrees and I'm pretty sure the sound has something to do with the cold.
  6. In January we bought a 2010 MKZ with less than 10,000 miles. I'm generally happy with the car except for the road noise. It starts about 45 mph and gets louder as speed increases. We have installed sound-deadening material in the trunk, over the wheel wells and under the back seat. This made noise from the front of the car louder. On rough interstate concrete surfaces vibration comes into the car through the vibration of the front floor pans. When the road goes to smooth asphalt - it is very quiet. The car has Michelin energy saver A/S tires. Are they too hard? I run about 30 psi in the tires. The sticker says 33 psi. Are the 2014 models of fusion/MKZ noisy? If not, why not? Are the body support isolators larger? Softer? Different tires? Any recommendations?
  7. My 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid has just started sounding like it has an air compressor running in the trunk (I can hear it over the front motor, when it's running). I've owned it 15 months now and not heard the noise before. My local Ford Service is trying to tell me it's "Normal". If it's "normal" why am I just now hearing it? Any thoughts from the Forum?
  8. Ever since it got cold enough here (northern OK) to warrant using the heater in my 2013 MKZ Hybrid, I've noticed that the heater blower is really loud--loud enough to make me wonder if there are some "doors" or vents inside the heater system in the dash that are not opening properly. Once the car's interior warms up enough such that the heater needn't run on high, it quiets down quite a bit, but it really makes quite a racket when it first tries to heat the interior of my car. I expect some noise, of course, but this is loud enough that it makes me wonder if there's something amiss. Are others experiencing this? I'm hoping to hear from you, whether you are or are not experiencing the same thing. Thanks in advance.
