I have noticed less and less electric-only propulsion available in my 2010 FFH in the last few years; I assumed it was because the HVB was losing it's storage capability and not being able to provide as much juice to run electric only. Also my overall gas mileage has been decreasing over the years; I no longer see 40+mpg like I used to when the car was relatively new. Not going to replace the HVB in a near 10 year old car.

I've noticed this problem in my 2010 FFH since the day I bought it; the only time it is something other than just annoying is when I'm trying to merge into heavy freeway traffic, I floor the accelerator and nothing happens for a few seconds. I've learned to adjust for it, but it's one of the few things about my hybrid that I hate. Trading it in for a 2020 Subaru Legacy in September; would have gone with another Fusion, but Ford put me off with the 'dial' transmission selector. Sorry, Ford.

I would disaggree about filling up the tank as much as you can; it states clearly in the manual NOT to do that. Filling too much can cause gas to leak thru the breather tube, making a mess and hazard. You should fill until the auto pump stops flow, no more. If you want to know how big the tank is, look at the owners manual.

I have a 2010 FFH with just over 22K miles; same thing just happend to me, except there was a noise coming from the backseat area that sounded like a huge angry wasp...very loud buzzing, with varied with my speed. HVB charge also went all the way to the top, was charging even at 70 mph on the expressway, which it never had done before. No warning lights on the dash. Called my dealer to bring it in, but the next day and ever since it's been running perfectly normal; charge OK, EV OK, no problems at all. I would assume it was a reconditioning, except for the buzzing; the manual describes it as a 'clicking' sound of relays; this was more than that. l am glad I am not alone experiencing this.

Your link doesn't work............

Very interesting question. I am torn between the technological advances, styling of the FFH and the 'nit-picky' things that bother me about it: rear seats don't fold down, can't tow anything, delay in the throttle action, etc. I had looked at the Camry SE (non-hybrid) before I bought the FFH, but then the 'throttle/brake' issues of the Camry popped up and swayed me to go with the FFH. I'm not sure I made the right decision, as I am retired now and don't put on the mileage like I used to, so it's going to take me that much longer to make up the hybrid price difference.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. I bought it from a local chain here in Connecticut, Town Fair Tire; I did call around to other Michelin dealers, all quoted me the same price, more or less. I've dealt with Town Fair for a while now, so I went to them. That was the out-the-door price, including mounting, balancing, tax, etc. I don't belong to Costco as the nearest one is 3/4 hour drive away and I was anxious to get this resolved in a hurry anyway, as I'm doing a lot of Christmas driving next week. Hopefully the next time I have to go thru this will be for high-mileage replacement and I will be able to take my time shopping around with better options.

Anyone have the Michelin Energy MXV4's? I ran over a piece of metal yesterday, slitting my rear tire beyond repair. Replacement cost: $275 !!!! I've never paid that much for a car tire before; have come close with tires for my Yamaha, but this? Wow!

Thanks for all the comments....I still feel that the 'delay' is too long and can be dangerous. Maybe since I've always had manual transmissions I am used to more immediate response when hitting the gas. It's when you need the power immediately (such as merging onto the expressway) that it can be scary.
-
Has anyone noticed that there is a slight delay in response when 'flooring' the throttle, as in from a standing start or trying to merge onto an expressway. I love my Hybrid, but this is sometimes disconcerting.

OK, again, what exactly is 'reconditioning'?????

If you look in the Hybrid folder that came with the owners manual, it says in there that a 'whistling' noise is normal. Mine's had it since day 1. What, me worry?

I have a small 5'x9' trailer that I carry various items in (kayak, bags of dirt, junk, etc.); after I traded in my Accord for the FFH, I put a hitch on my Civic, which does fine pulling the trailer. Just think I should be able to pull it with the FFH without worries about my warranty. It was my bad anyway, as I never thought of asking the salesman about towing capacity before I purchased.
-
Be aware that the Ford does NOT recommend towing a trailer with the FFH (see your owners manual). See also my post about this previously. My dealer said it was because of the CVT, not lack of power. I needed to tow a small trailer also, but I'll wait until my warranty is up, as they said towing could void the warranty if any tranny issues arise.

Same thing happened to me....once. I've always tried to 'squeeze' a few more cents of gas into the tank after the auto shut off in my other cars. After spilling a puddle from the Hybrid, I only fill to the auto-shut off and thats it.

HA! I'd like to see them 'blacklist' me! There are about 4 or 5 Ford dealerships in my area that I can choose from. One sign of a 'listing' and I'm bringing my service business to another dealer.

Just an update, since the weather has heated up, I've heard the fan noise more frequently, usually when the car has been sitting in the sun (90 degrees plus) and before the A/C cools things down. Still noisier than I think it should be. Got a survey from Ford about my service, told them I was disappointed that they couldn't diagnose the fan noise. Haven't heard back from anyone.

I purchased a 'SportsRack' from Dicks Sporting Goods, hard foam pads with crossbars that strap inside the car. Only $99, took the car on the expressway at 70mph with no problems. Lots cheaper than Thule and goes on and comes off very fast. Don't know about the effect on gas mileage, but for the relatively few times I use it, I don't really care.

Thanks for the tip....hit 97 here today, tried what you suggested and it worked well! That 'max AC' certainly blasts! But it is a definite improvement.

I have to admit that I'm disappointed with the FFH A/C; doesn't seem to be able to keep up with +95 degree temps. I have the beige cloth seats, dark grey dash (black?), but It is garaged out of the sun most of the time. I use manual setting of 60 degrees and never had to turn it off because it got too cold inside. Otherwise, I just love the car!

Thanks to all for their input! Just to update, since the first time I heard the 'loud' fan noise, it hasn't happened since! The FFH went to the dealer today for the 6 month service, I told them about the noise. They, of course, couldn't duplicate the sound, although they test drove it, called Ford Hot-Line support and drove two brand new FFH's to see what their fans sounded like. If true, they did go beyond the call of duty, and I admit I haven't heard the fan since; soooooo, we'll wait and see if anything develops. Again, thanks for the comments.

I understand that there is a fan to cool the high voltage batteries under the rear seat. Has anyone heard their's come on? I heard a 'whirring' noise from the back, quite loud, and I was wondering if that was normal. Only came on above 35 mph and only when the gas engine was running; if I let up and changed over to EV the noise stopped. Sounded like something was rubbing or the fan, if that's what it was, was hitting something, as it was very loud. I'm having my 6 month service done soon, but wondered if I could get any thoughts about this from the forum members. Thanks for looking.

I traded my '91 Accord EX, with 88k. I loved the Accord, but nine years old was time for something new. Didn't care for the new Accords, too big and kinda 'stodgy' looking, IMO. Drove nice, but didn't care for the looks. Test drove Accord, Camry, Fusion SEL, Fusion Hybrid, Subaru Legacy. Most impressed with Hybrid ride, tech stuff. Bought one off the showroom floor.

Got it...thanks for the tip.
