Where is this second USB port behind the console? I have only ever found the one? Not that I would need a second but just curious.

I'd be more worried about the thud you heard than the ICE coming on too much. I think all of us have noticed a massive difference as the temperature has dipped in how much the electric comes on. Nature of the beast it seems but if you go on a longer drive you get up to temperatue and will get more electric. You can always call the dealership about the thud noise and get them to do a once over. The thud is not normal!

I got a portable Sirius music player for Christmas (Stiletto its called, fairly neat) so I had to look at actually paying for Sirius as I'm on the free system still with the FFH. They did let me register it as a second device but after "activation charge' and 6 months I got dinged almost $90 Canadian for 6 months. I asked about the lifetime package as I'd like to pay and be done with it but they discontinued that at least in Canada in June I was told. I don't like the idea of having to pay around $25 a month for my car and my portable player come this Spring but I do love Sirius. Hopefully they will come out with some promotions. I'd like to get sent to the customer retention desk :)

I like the inclusion of the litres/100km rating as that's what I typically have my car set to as a fellow Canadian. I have a long term right now of 7l/100km which when I switch the gauges gets me someting like 33.6 MPG. I feel somewhat relieved now to know that I'm really getting typically results for the colder weather at this time. In Vancouver its just hanging around freezing so I should be greatful I am thinking that its not minus 30 celcius. Thanks for all the posts in this thread, I think its helped ease some of my fears that I had a defective car.

Here's a couple blogs some fellow owners have going. I was reading those till I found this place but figure they may be of use to some people on here. http://ffh.squarespace.com/ http://fusionhybridhypermiler.blogspot.com/

Okay so it does seem to vary a decent amount amongst us. I'm still very much on the low side though at 33.1 currently which is disturbing. I drive as cautiously as I am able to without annoying too many people stuck behind me. I have found that ever since I took it in for the issue with my sync taking too much of a battery draw it hasn't been able to go into EV mode as easily in the past. I have seen some times before the car warms up where I can be stopped at a stop light, foot on the brake, meanwhile the ICE starts up and drives my MPG rating into the dirt while I sit idle. After driving for 5 or 10 minutes I can get it to go into EV mode but even that seems to be harder to hold than it did in the past. I'm almost due for my first checkup at the dealership so I'm going to mention my concerns and see if I can learn anything new. I am going to try bumping my tires up to high 30s PSI. I heard someone say they did 41 PSI with good results but I'm scared of damaging the tires. I think we all do agree that temperature does play a big factor no matter what but some people's cars seem to be sticking in EV mode a lot easier than others. I am almost wondering what would happen if I threw caution to the wind completley and drove like a normal car. I have to expect I'd get only high 20s for MPG which would be pretty lame for a car that is designed to really save on fuel. I'm still loving my Fusion but I'm eager to get the 40MPG range that others are seeing.

Heya, So from reading a few blogs I am hearing that a number of good FFH drivers are getting long term fuel economy averages in the 40MPG range and even higher. I am in Canada and when I switch my gauge to MPG I am getting a measly 33.1 long term currently. I drive as efficiently as I can with a mix of highway and city driving. I have had the odd trip that goes into the mid 40s based on my calculations ( think I did 4.7l / 100 km over a 10km drive once in perfect condidtions) but its been getting worse as the temperature gets lower and after I had it into the dealer for a repair of the electrical system. What kind of numbers are others getting out there? I saw in another thread that comparing US MPG versus Canadian MPG isn't a proper comparison but does that mean that the calculations in the car itself when I switch to "English" mode of Units as its called in the display? I'm basically trying to figure out if I may have a car that needs some tuning at the dealership or if I am just being overly paranoid. I have about 5000 kms on the car so far and I have heard some talk that after 5000 Miles you get better MPG? Thoughts and what are you getting for a number?

I've had my car about 2 months now and I ended up having a strange issue crop up that I thought I'd let others know about. We had the sync system fail on our car. You couldn't get it to acknowledge if you pushed the sync option or get a phone to connect to it or anything. Took it into the dealer and they said they hadn't seen that before and scheduled a visit. Before we got to the visit one morning the car battery was completely dead. Didn't leave any lights on or anything like that (not sure if you even can, we leave it in auto lights anyway). Got it jumped and took it to the dealer and they spent 3 days looking it over to find the issue. Turns out the two incidents were related. There is a bug they had to do a system update for on the sync that causes excessive battery draw and basically sat there overnight and drained the battery. Once they figured that out and did the update problem was totally solved.

I just did some winter driving here in British Columbia with the factory Michelin's that come with the car. Did a road trip through a mountain pass It handled decently and the traction control never came on. I don't think I'm going to do it again any time soon however though as I already got a chip in my windshield (less than 2 months old!!!!).
