  1. What is the procedure to initiate a re-balancing by the car itself? I've tried racing the engine in park for about 5 min, which appears to deliver a full charge to the HV battery, but it doesn't improve driving. FFH still will not run in EV mode.
  2. I predict at least two changes: 1. 2011 will be available in colors other than the multiple shades of grey limit of the 2010. 2. Ford will figure out how to provide some sort of pass-through from the trunk - fold-down seats or a "ski" opening. My guess is that they will also make available an all-electric operating mode for short runs, to compete with the Chevy Volt and the Prius.
  3. What have we all been driving? Why did you order a FFH? I bought my FFH in July 2009 under a couple of attractive incentives: Ford X Plan and Cash-for-Clunkers Program. I was able to use the X Plan through a friend who is a Ford retiree, which saved me about $3,000. I traded a really sick 1998 Chevy Astro van with 166,000 miles, a bad front axle and a very weak oil pump, earning a combined state and federal tax credits of $2.200. This truely was a Clunker that needed to be taken off the road. Since the program required that the trade-in vehicle needed to be driven onto the dealer's lot (which was a 30 mile dirve), my wife suggested that we have it towed to within the last block! July 2009 was a tough time to find a FFH, so I searched the Ford web site to find one that had been ordered by the dealer equiped the way I wanted it, but not yet shipped. The salesperson didn't even know that the car was on order til I told him! My FFH came in white tri-coat and all the options except remote start. It has performed well for the first 9800 miles, and I enjoy driving it almost as much as my Cadillac deVille. Mileage has been averaging 38-40, with an occasional 45 mpg. Suprisingly, the highway mileage seems better than the city mileage, but I guess that's because of the start-and-stop.
  4. Wow! I guess discussing DRL's is like politics and/or religion. I didn't know I'd stir-up such contraversy. Thanx to everyone for the honest expressions of your feelings about DRL's. Thanx especially to Flyboy767 for the Service Bulletin number. I'll try my dealer again. Of interest is a leter I received from the Ford Corporate Car Safety Director today saying that they were working on finding an answer to my request. Seems strange that the answer isn't readily available to him if there is a Service Bulletin. I'll let you all know how I make out with the dealer and with Ford Corporate.
  5. Add to the list of missing important safety features on the FFH: Daylight Running Lights (DRL). The owner's manual describes how they work (if installed), but there is no such feature on my 2010 FFH. I have searched ford.com, talked with the salesman, and had the service advisor check with Ford tec department to find out how to activate them, but the best that Ford techs can do is to suggest that I gring the card to the dealer and have the dealer technician call Ford tech to walk them through some experimentation with the "junction box". No promise that they can figure it out, but they'll be glad to chew up service hours trying. I have masked off the dashboard sensor to fool the automatic lights into thinking it's nighttime, and that gets the headlights to light, but it also gets the dash lights to dim so that I can't see the speedometer in the daylight, and the nav system goes black thinking that it's nighttime. I've written to Ford Management asking for a fix, but I don't expect much except a "Sorry, Charlie" letter. Seems strange that this 502A-equiped high-end Fusion does not have this important safety feature, especially since they are required to put it on all Fusions sold into Canada, and I understand that all "fleet" Fusions come equiped with DRL. For years, I have driven with headlights on during the daytime to assist other drivers in seeing my car. All of the GM cars that I have owned for the past ten years have included this important safety feature. My Fusion alerts me whenever a car is beside me, behind me, coming from the side, or overhead. Why can't it help to make my car visible to other drivers by providing DRL?
